This is the crap that is local sports talk radio in Pittsburgh

I thought he was being sarcastic, I could be wrong.

Sent from my moto g(7) power using Steeler Nation mobile app

I could be wrong...didn't see a sarcasm tag and I don't converse with DJ enough to know him and his leanings...often, sarcasm doesn't translate well in print or between strangers. I just see the term thrown about way too much these days.

I think Rudolph can be a solid starter in this NFL, but what sports show bashes their future HOF QB that has helped win two rings just to try to make the new guy look better???? Are they bashing Brees in NO?

In another thread I have to admit having thoughts similar to what they must have been saying on 93.7. These QBs get older, set in their ways, peckish, want to do things their way, especially the great ones. So I kinda bought in to that, figuring we never saw much play action, always in the shotgun, little movement because Ben wanted it that way. After seeing the same stuff yesterday, I was obviously wrong. Way wrong. I don't think these guys have the capacity to change anything. It is really hard to believe how bad it is. I mean, this guy won a Super Bowl. And he won it. I have never bought that Cowher team ****. He was the coach, he won it. Can he really be this bad?

I was absolutely being sarcastic.

That's nothing compared to the smoke they blow about the Pirates since they cover their games.

Maybe Mason had the deer in the headlights look because he was used to playing against our defense and then had to actually face an average defense in a game situation.

Right. My issue isn't with Rudolph. He may turn out great. But that doesn't diminish what Ben has meant to this franchise. Ben is a HOF QB. He can make all the throws with ease. Rudolph doesn't have that arm but then very few do. It isn't a knock on him. That's just life.

I remember reading a quote from Bruce Gradkowski when he was here, he said Ben could make throws that very few starting QB's could make, including himself.
I just don't understand the hate so many seem to have for the guy. They will knock him any chance they have.

Hell hath no fury like scorned bitter crackers

Yea verily

I got banned on another board for being "racist" concerning Tomlin. Imagine how strange it feels to check in these days and see how they're all racists now.

When I first started watching football, Big Ben during his rookie year was the main reason I became a Steeler fan. So to say the team had a better chance with him manning the QB spot this last game, when all evidence this season said otherwise, is really putting the blinders on. There is a lot of revisionist history going on as well, most people trashing MR, for his first ever start against the current #2 ranked defense, forget how terrible both Big Ben and Tom Brady looked during their first ever starts. In fact, statistically, MR played better than both. Is Mason going to be better than both of them? I have no idea, chances are unlikely since their peaks are both hall of fame level, but I'm not going to belittle Mason because he had a poor half and a decent half against a top ranked defense.

I hate to say it, but the sports media here in Pittsburgh is really subpar... part of it is ratings grabs, but the lack of original insight and non biased commentary is depressing... i mean even most of the hot takes are stale... and it doesn’t help that many really cannot separate personal feelings from reporting... they run so many guys they don’t like out of this town and defend dunderheaded no talent hacks that are in their good graces... and its not steelers specific either... guys like Jagr and Kessel are demonized while some 4th line bum gets all sorts of feel good fluff building them up...

In fairness to Ben, that was in a mud pit during a monsoon. The fact that he had 14 consecutive wins would be more indicative of his rookie season.

and in the fourth when we needed a play he got out of the pocket and hit Ward for a TD to put the game away.
