Is this the new trend

The next CBA negotiation is surely leading to a strike or lockout.

AGREE but also realize those negotiations have already begun "under-table".

The owners and the NFL will ALWAYS win in any strike or lockout, the players as a whole are financially irresponsible and need their money more than the owners miss theirs. Most teams have great accountants, financial advisers, as well as insurance that protects them in the event of a strike. Until players learn to live within their means and put money aside, they will always cave before the owners do.

Nothing wrong with getting ahead of the next round of negotiations. I believe the removal of the franchise tag and guaranteed contracts will be huge issues for the players. The league is going to want to extend the season to 18 games by cutting the preseason. I side with the players on the 18 games issue. The season at 16 games is enough and doesn't need to be changed. As far as guaranteed deals, I'm all for it if there is a way to do it in a manner that doesn't cripple the salary cap for teams.

This is why so many compare the league today to the NFL. Should be compared to baseball and NBA where only two or three teams are thought of as the others just pick up pay checks. This league owners better wise up and when these players want let go let them go and not to another team. Would anyone miss them after two games doubtful.

That is a strong possibility in the future

So when former players start their league will they have no salary cap, guaranteed contracts, players being able to terminate their contracts at any time and guaranteed retirement income?

Nothing udertable about it. The NFL and NFLPA are openly meeting as they should be. They can negotiate at anytime; they don't have to wait until a certain date to begin. My company did its most recent deal with the union well ahead of when the existing contracts expiration date.

Players want and deserve more leverage, they’re the one out there putting the bodies on the line. And star players are putting butts in the $eats.

And I’m still bitter about how the Steelers let a once in a generation player walk. Leveon Bell.

Salary cap.

If you were ready to sign LeVeon Bell for $17 million per year for 5 years guaranteed (What he wanted and what he said he would only accept), go break open your piggy bank boss!

The players should just take all THEIR money and start their own league, then then can keep all the profits.

The AAF was largely former players as owners and management. I wish is had lasted. I said that about the USFL though, too. It wasn't player funded, but the nfl needs competition.

What are they going to play in? Will they build stadiums worth hundreds of millions? What about tv contracts? It's silly. E V E R Y O N E is replaceable!

10,000 men will line up to replace those who strike.

The bs that AB pulled should have never went unpunished, but it has. Just as all that **** they pull in Fraudboro has gone on unimpeded.

They already get paid a **** ton of money. Way more than the overwhelming majority of jobs in the country. All kinds of people put their body on the line every single day for a fraction of pro sport players. It's a game. If you can't take it don't play. Someone will surely come take your place guaranteed.

Most can barely manage their own money, you think they'll be able to handle a league with complex contracts, clauses etc.?

I'm all for the players getting their money **** the greedy owners. I just don't like crying for trades Because of a couple Ls
