I wouldnt welcome him in the huddle. Hes a one-trick pony who was exposed during his last 2-12 seasonal effort. STEELERS please dont even entertain the idea.

**** Colin Kaepernick. I would rather have 80-year old Tom Matte bring his Shula wristband to Heinz and play QB for the Steelers than watch a self-absorbed, one-trick pony douchebag leave his stench in the locker room.

James Washington, I'm talking to you

Was gonna start a thread about this dude....He has an opportunity right here. He KNOWS the QB's tendencies better than anyone on our roster.

Now's your time to shine

If they signed him, I'd be officially done with the NFL. I wouldn't put it past Tomlin.

Tomlin wouldn't be doing the signing, that would be Colbert & Rooney. Just saying.

That would be a slap in the face to Rudolph.

Last I checked, most teams have 2-3 QB's on the roster. Signing a veteran back-up QB would be a slap in the face to Rudolph? Or signing Kaepernick specifically would be an insult?

Sign Kaepernick?? Besides his arm, Is there something wrong with Ben's knees too?

Damn well better not sign Kaperdork. Not only does he suck, he brings as much, if not more, baggage as AB. We definitely don't need that ****.

In Kaepernick, the Colts would get a more talented version of Jacoby Brissett. He could sit on the sideline and learn Reich’s system for a few weeks before ultimately taking over. There would certainly be push back in a more conservative state like Indiana. But winning cures all ills. Kaepernick has that track record.

Tomlin has a say in who comes and goes. I don't think he is left out of the loop.

Sure. Even so, why single out Tomlin - like mdk2 did - when critiquing a future signing (that hasn't even happened yet)? Because the Tomlin hate is through the roof around here. You think Tomlin can just sign players willy nilly cause he feels like it, without Colbert & Rooney being 100% on board?

It's almost like people blaming the DC when the HC has admitted he calls some of the plays and has his hands all over the defense. But some how some one wants to fire one but not the other.... Butler hate is through the roof with some people. You think Butler can just change the defense willy nilly cause he feels like it, without Tomlin being 100% on board?

Touché, nicely done.

Difference is, Butler’s sole job is to run the defense. It’s not Tomlin’s job to sign players, that’s on Colbert & the front office. Apples & oranges.

Because the Tomlin hate is through the roof around here.

I don't think anybody on this board actually hates Mike Tomlin, the human being. By all accounts he's a decent man, good husband and father. Some of the players even like him. Separate that from the opinions of many, here, elsewhere, on the team, in the media, who grow weary of the Tomlin administration, all for substantive reasons, none of which have escaped these august pages. Personally, I appreciate Tomlin the human. I don't, and never did want him as our HC, and was vehement about it at that time, and throughout his tenure. The opposite of people's relationships with Trump - maybe not the finest example of humanity, but didn't vote for him to be their Sunday School teacher. Y'folluh?

That said, it is entirely 'in character' for them 'to look at' Kap and sign him 'for the betterment of the team'. They brought in Tomlin for no reason other than the 'Rooney rule'. The brought in Vick for reasons that elude me. With those examples of flawed Rooney reasoning, it should surprise nobody that they'd bring in Kap. It would be consistent with the rest of this Charley Foxtrot.

And for those that would 'call' raciss, I wanted Ben jettisoned after the 'all you ******* take my shots' episode. At the time, that stance was 'controversial'. In retrospect, it wouldn't have made any difference.

Here is some of the hot QB talent out there, if we want to bring in a veteran back-up:

QBs that could interest Steelers: Landry Jones, Paxton Lynch, Brock Osweiler, Cody Kessler, Brogan Roback, and maybe Tom Savage.

Yikes.

Butler is also the LB coach. So he is mult-focused. Tomlin has input with the defense and he also has input with who gets put on the team.
