I was hoping that when Fichner took over at OC he would be more innovative. It appears he is predictable.

I was watching the game like...

I turned off the volume by halftime.

So we played our best RB less than half the snaps and switzer was the 3rd WR. The whole coaching staff should just get **** canned

If I didn't write articles or do the podcast, I would have turned the game off...

I could never do that. But I have to say they really pushed my level of disgust right up there....

I just had to stop reading the article.

Fichtner said he got a little depressed when his first 3rd and 1 failed to convert so he maybe was a little down on running the ball after that.

YOU ******* PITCHED A TOSS 4 YARDS DEEP ON A 3RD AND 1 WHERE YOU WERE TRYING TO ESTABLISH YOURSELF AS A PHYSICAL TEAM.

I was sure as **** ******* depressed!

I probably got a little bit down when we didn't make the first third-and-1. I think we had more in (the run game) and we didn't get it. And that probably drained on me for the next several calls I made.

This from a professional coach?

Let's not throw him under the bus just yet, remember the AFC playoff game vs Jax, we tried a 4th and 1 toss 4 yards deep and Fichner was not the OC. Those important calls like that are on the HC.

Not on those plays, Tomlin was asked that a couple seasons ago, about how much Ben can change, and he said on short yardage plays he doesn't really have the go ahead to audible out of it, that's my call, especially 4th downs.
If Ben has full go, then what's the point of an OC or anyone but Ben calling the offense?

I don't know if I can go w/ this...

A veteran QB, like Ben, should be able to audible at will. If not, we'll see the same 3 running plays called back to back to back...

If JuJu doesnt turn out to be a #1 WR you can throw all the plans out the window.

He did have more yards than OBJ. So it wasn't completely terrible.

I don't know if I'd be worried about JuJu, it's everybody else:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">JuJu Smith-Schuster needs 79 receiving yards on Sunday vs. Seattle to surpass Randy Moss as the youngest player in NFL history to reach 2,500:<br><br>Randy Moss 22 years, 310 days<br>Larry Fitzgerald 23-31<br>Mike Evans 23-35<br>Odell Beckham 23-39 <br>JuJu Smith-Schuster 22-297*<br><br>*on Sunday <a href="https://t.co/7q9gOP9Env">pic.twitter.com/7q9gOP9Env</a></p>— Gil Brandt (@Gil_Brandt) <a href="https://twitter.com/Gil_Brandt/status/1172532844213624834?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">September 13, 2019</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

JuJu doenst have AB to take all the double coverage/best defenders off him now, old stats are meaningless

I agree with you, but on crucial situations like 4th downs, etc. It's Tomlins call, he's said as much. If it were up to me, after the first 10-15 scripted plays or whatever it is I'd want my QB calling alot of the plays.

Not excited to hear this but...he knew he f*cked up. He manned up and recognized it. I’m good with that. The remaining 15 games though he better not turn into Coach Klein.

I saw Ben call TO's on crucial 3rd and short plays when he saw something he didn't like....but I agree with you that Ben should be able to switch the play.

Ben and the receivers need to be on the same page so practice time together is key.

Short yardage on 3rd or 4th down is a must. Conner missed the 1st 3rd and 1 by less than 6 inches and we punted. The 2nd 3rd and 1 was a horrible play call. You never pitch it back so the RB now has to go 6+ yards just to get back to the line. The line is not that good. And, well, the 4th and 1 pass play with an empty backfield worked but Moncrief had the ball go through his hands and bounce off his chest with no defender touching him.

And, hopefully, we can actually establish the run and not get behind by 17 early so we have to abandon it. Conner can easily put up 100 yards running and/or 150+ yards from scrimmage like he did last year.
