Pick Plays

The ONLY WAY to beat slants and drag routes is playing ZONE. Now, can you mix some man coverage and run zone coverage? Of course! I was very upset that we stayed in man-to-man coverage for the WHOLE NIGHT.

But, perhaps we could run too much zone without Sean Davis out there. Kameron Kelly, while a big guy, he was a liability on Sunday night.

Coach, isn't he your pick to 'already be better' than Davis???

the same kelly cameron who was the last line of defense thinking he had help over the top when Dorsett ran by untouched for a long TD?

cooch sure can pick 'em

From what I hear, everything was perfectly designed, we just need to execute better. /sarcasm.

Alex at Steeler Depot broke down that play. Apparently Edmunds did not do his job of playing over top cover 2.

Sunday night game defensive breakdowns were lack of communication and execution. The youth weren't prepared to play against Brady.

according to the man in charge, that is 100% correct in the first half, the scheme was good. You know the 2 Dlinemen scheme, the using Ryan Switzer, keeping Washington on the bench, not doing anything to get a good match up for Vance, running a toss on 4th and 1, yes the scheme was amazing.

The Patsies frequently man the outside receivers and play zone with a safety and inside backers. Can the offense try to run the wide receivers across the field on pick plays? Yeah, sure, but those take some time, bring the man defender into the zone, and put a bunch of players (offense and defense) into a small area.

Within 5 yards of the LOS, defenders are allowed contact with the receivers. Want to stop those ******* pick plays and "rub routes"? Have the defender decapitate receivers as they cross in front of them (the guy setting the pick). Dude will not be fired up for that play after 1-2 times he gets his head caved in.

Exactly!!! Hit them high and hard - de-cleat their *** and they will think twice about doing it again. However, in NE, our defenders would have gotten unsportsmanlike flags for doing it, even if it was within the 5 yards of the LOS.

New NFL. I get it. But make them call it. Pound them. The mini-Patsies will be in body bags by the second quarter. Teams that beat the Patsies*** pound them physically.

The Steelers must be vastly more physical. Make them whine. Make them hurt. Make them pay.

Absolutely this. It boggles my mind that NE has been doing this for years and we don't seem to be prepared for it.

The Pats have big thumper LBs that aren't that good in coverage and yet the somehow cover these rub routes, but for the steelers, we're told you have to have an elite All Pro caliber coverage ILB to even have a chance to cover short passes.
