Man I am really confident about this game Sunday. I mean really confident..

What team's defensive schemes 'aren't similar"??? Unless you change the entire base defense - schemes (3-4/4-3/Nickle/Dime/Quarters/Goalline) each has it's similarities in formation.
I guess the HC should have kicked the missed FG's himself. We know that we lost 2 games because of missed FG's. Perhaps he, the HC, could have done a better job at defending than Joe Haden and we wouldn't have seen the mysterious (and multiple) PI calls???

I get it - Coach Tomlin ain't perfect. It's been noted. He makes mistakes just like every other human being on the planet...

If he was a better coach, especially on defense, he wouldn't have so many games come down to a FG. In 2017 they won four games with a FG in either the last minute or on the last play to get that 13-3 record.

Scccccrrrrrreeeecccchhh!!!

Hol' up!!!

How many SB's did the *s win by 3pts??? Games??? A win is a win. 1 point or 100 - the W is all that matters...

Now, if this article doesn't cheer you up - I don't know what will?

Really? Football has changed SO much in the past 40+ years you want to compare coach from that era and now??? I'm dead...

It's a difficult comparison because they were so much better back then. When Tomlin is a top five coach, I mean, c'mon.

How many head coaches today will get in the HOF? I got one. Hoodie and we know he cheated.

You mean the same Tomlin who hasn't won a replay challenge in three years? The same Tomlin who's won three playoff games in eight years?

Yeah, I think this is the year I'm gonna start pushing back harder against the Tomlin bashers around here. Tomlin and our coaching staff is among the very best in the league. Everyone else seems to know it, besides the stubborn Debbie Downer Steelers fans who throw non-stop hate at Tomlin & the coaching staff.

Listen to what the SB champ Patriots had to say - across the board - in their pressers this week, be it coaches or players:
You can call out a guy and not hate a guy. 2DL sets on goal line/short yardage downs is idiotic, how can that be a good idea?
Horrible challenges, not just being wrong all the time, but some of the plays he challenges are just dumb. How about 4th and 1 in the playoffs vs Jax, Jax is in a goal line defense, all 11 guys are at/near the LOS and he calls a toss sweep to the SHORT side of the field, the toss is 7 yards behind the LOS when the defense is at the LOS. Those are all examples of just dumb football decisions from a head coach.

Not sure how this turned into a Tomlin thread, but my 2 cents.

He will be a better coach and gain more respect, if:

1. Clock management improves
2. Challenges improve
3. Holding 4th quarter leads improve
4. Having the team ready for sub 500 teams
5. And yes, elimination of the 2 DL sets

7. Making mid game adjustments.

So I am watching the 2018 P*ts @ Steelers game.

Those of you who are 'supremely confident' clearly don't remember that game. Classic P*ts ****. They just continue to move up and down the field. The fact the Steelers won that is a miracle. JaySam heroics included.

Actually remember 2018 & 2017 pretty well.

Without key players the Steelers outplayed Patriots both games... they got the big one to Hogan last year & Gronk was uncoverable the Pats last scoring drive.....

Other than that they were stopped and we ran the ball on them all game.

I’m feeling good about beating a team that is mostly in their head & wary of their antics.

I guess its the inconsistency of this team that leads me to believe we aren't going to perform as well as some may think heading into a stadium we haven't won in for two decades

Winning in December of 2008 is 2 decades?

Is that the new math?

I just have a feeling that the Steeler defense is going to physically beat up New England Sunday. I really have zero fear of New England since we ditched that soft zone defense that we deployed for years against them. I just think we are too fast and talented on defense for them. I really see Brady having to hold that ball all game due to tight man coverage. I think he will be running for his life Sunday. Usually I am nervous about playing them. I dont have any of that this week. I feel like the Curtain is back.

This loss is not on Tomlin or the Steelers.......

It's on YOU for starting this ******* thread.....

I wish it were that easy to blame this thread...The Steelers are a lost organization. We do not even have an identity on either side of the ball. They look like they are making plays up in the dirt....They will not fool me again. The next time I talk trash about the Steelers, it will be in a cowardly way after they win the game. I dont trust this Tomlin coached team anymore. I dont care who they bring in or draft. Tomlin has no clue what to do with them..

I'm just sitting here chuckling. No actual words... just lots of chuckling.

Pessimistic view: This was the Patriots without AB. Yeah, the painful truth is Brady will play 5 more seasons, they will win at least #7, #8, & #9, maybe make a serious run at #10. Ben should hang em up at the end of this season. There's really no point as long as Brady runs the show. And if you truly think it's all rigged for the Patriots, then just stop watching altogether. It's pointless anyway. The game plan last night on both sides of the ball was a copy/paste of last year's win. How inept to think that would work again.

Optimistic view: Slow starts have always favored Tomlin's teams. There's time for things to gel, as they say. Shake off the rust and move on. Better to slay that dragon in the playoffs than week 1. The game plan last night on both sides of the ball was a copy/paste of last year's win. Not a bad idea, as it doesn't show the league your entire bag of tricks in week 1.

Yeah, because it's important to lose in order to not show your "bag of tricks." Good logic.

What's in that dairy product?

hey, what time does the game start? asking for 53 buddies and a few of their coaches.

prior to the Dri Archer debacle, the Blinger here held the record for the longest thread and managed to **** up the database at the time. Blinger gets a pass.

That's why I prefaced it with "Optimistic View". Not implying that was their actual game plan. Maybe I should have made that bold text also blinking in red.

Whelp, there goes my confidence...

LOL

All these chest thumpers swallowed the koolaid believing this defense was goona be better with one rookie LB, hilarious

We should have drafted WR, RB Iike I told ya

Now we have NO playmakers on either offense or defense, brilliant
