Man I am really confident about this game Sunday. I mean really confident..

This is no cake walk folks.

Especially considering our record there. I think we have the team to beat them though. We're certainly gonna find out soon.

Hope springs eternal.

Tomlin tends to be unprepared at the start of the season, of course the P*ts, ironically enough have shown the same the last couple years.

They need to be ready to go muddle-huddle and no-huddle a LOT. Anything they can do to confuse Ernie Adams is a benefit. Run Run Run. When the P*ts start creeping up, pray James Washington from preseason shows up on a deep route rather than James Washington through the first 12 games of last year.

If the Steelers win, I suspect it will be a dog-fight all the way to the end.

Tomlin was ready last year, yet no one wants to give him credit game planning with a backup RB that went for the century and nearly cleared 2 centuries vs the Pats.

You guys are great...

Ha, forgot about that. Have to give Tomlin kudos for that, he swallowed his pride and asked for help. On the flip side, didn't they watch & breakdown the ******* Giants vs. Pats games?

The game is in Foxboro, they are raising their banner, their OL and DB's will get away with mugging, hell they'll be allowed to use weapons if they need to. It'll be sickening.

We nearly beat them the last two times we played but not only have we never beat Br*dy at their place, neither does anyone else. If you remember from when someone was quoting the book "Spygate:The Untold Story", not only is the Cheats W-L record at home very good but their record against the spread at home is ludicrous.

You're funny...

Comments on the year prior - when Jesse James made a 'football move - broke the plain of the endzone' - and the TD was overturned resulting in a Steelers loss and a rule change in the off season???

Addition by subtraction. Peezy is gone and our LB corps is looking much improved and I actually feel the pieces are in place to pressure Brady up the middle like we've talked about ad nauseum year after year but very seldom have had any success. Foxboro can be a springboard for us this year, and I'm glad for the challenge. Go Steelers!

You're not going to pressure Brady up the middle when you're using only 2 DL, it has nothing to do with our personnel or who the LB coach is, if we are going to continue to use 2 DL, then you can forget about pressure up the middle.

Explain the sack on Mariotta for a safety? Your honor, I present evidence from YouTube - start at the 25 secs mark...

***Note***The Steelers are in a Nickel 2-4-5 set on defense. The pocket gets DECIMATED by two DLmen equating to a sack and safety.

Your honor, the defense, rests.

The Titans are not the Patriots, Mariotta is not Brady, the preseason is not the regular season, etc. I'm not saying it never happens, but if you want to consistently pressure him up the middle, it's not going to happen with 2 DLinemen. Our Dline is probably out most talented group with Cam, Tuitt, Hargrave, and with the way NE pounded the ball alot last year, I think we'd be stupid not to use 3 DLinemen as much as possible.

I understand, the *respect* for the *'s; but, their OL will not be good this year. Unless they miraculously 'know' what's coming (intercepting radio signals) the middle of that OL is going to be tested and tested often. Gronk was a great TE - he could catch and block. He's gone. So, that means Dupree and Watt will eat a lot too - I predicted Bud w/ 2 sacks on Sunday night weeks ago...

Cam and Stephon have something to prove - they have gelled as teammates and look VERY DOMINANT up front in the Nickel base. Oh, lest ye forget...

Our MLB's are a strength of the team again!!! Williams/Bush/Barron - and Gilbert will be soaking it all up learning and on stand by (if you think they're fast this year - when Gilbert and Bush are on the field - 4.4 speed for both guys. That'll give the resident 'speed guy' a woodie...

So hyped right now!!!

I'm hyped right there with you, but with their Oline being weak, that's why I'm using 3 DL and just collapsing the middle of the pocket/running game and letting my 4.4 guys behind them run to the ball, or cover those quick hitting routes they love to use

Yeah, I think this is the year I'm gonna start pushing back harder against the Tomlin bashers around here. Tomlin and our coaching staff is among the very best in the league. Everyone else seems to know it, besides the stubborn Debbie Downer Steelers fans who throw non-stop hate at Tomlin & the coaching staff.

Listen to what the SB champ Patriots had to say - across the board - in their pressers this week, be it coaches or players:

“Good football team. I have a lot of respect for the organization. Coach (Mike) Tomlin, the coaching staff, the players, team, they compete hard, they're tough. They're a good football team, they're strong in all three phases of the game. They challenge you pretty much on every play, so we'll have to be ready to go 60 minutes, go all the way, go toe-to-toe with them. It'll be good to get started, but these guys do a good job. They're a tough team to prepare for, a tough team to play against.”

“They are a great football team. They are always well-prepared, well coached. They have had great continuity over the years. Their schemes are always similar defensively. They have carried on the tradition of great Steelers defenses."

"They are a team that challenges you in a lot of different areas. We have to go out there and play a great game. That is what it takes against a great football team, and they are one of the best in the league.”

"They do a good job schematically, they tie it in with their passing game well so it's hard to just zero in on one thing. They do a lot to keep you off-balance with some misdirection plays and RPO's, things like that. So they're well-balanced.”

“I have a ton of respect for the Steelers, Coach Tomlin and his staff, their players, the way they compete. We've had a lot of very competitive games with this organization through the years. It's always tough. We know it'll be tough on Sunday night.”

“They have a pretty broad system. They're able to do a lot of different things. They don't do them all every week. They pick out the ones that they feel like match up best against their opponents and go from there. They played us a little bit differently, so we know they're capable of adjusting what they do to fit the needs that they perceive they need to address.”

Unless they miraculously 'know' what's coming (intercepting radio signals)
Oh, they will. Accept that. The best chance they have is if they have some new verbiage in their play calling (or if they do like somebody else suggested and take the play sent in and move X up or down the sleeve in the huddle.)

I guess its the inconsistency of this team that leads me to believe we aren't going to perform as well as some may think heading into a stadium we haven't won in for two decades

New England seldom shots themselves in the foot. We do. It would have been nice to see Boswell try the longer field goals in the pre season. Tomlin opted not to test him.

To win we should feature Samuels, but I suspect we won’t.

Sure we can win. It would help if we knew Boswell was back, didn’t make drive killing penalties, and had a better understanding of when to throw red flags.

If this were chess we have a slight edge in the value of the pieces on the board. The problem is we are playing a chess master and Tomlin and to lesser extent Butler are going to be schooled.

My God, you think those ******* are serious? They always stroke us in the media. It's like a joke to them. They let one slip out - " Their schemes are always similar defensively." No ****. Even when it isn't working. They know what most around here know. Tomlin sucks.

Lessee, last year our QB led the league in pass attempts, passing yards, the D led in sacks and ranked 6th overall, and yet somehow we missed the playoffs.

Exhibit A for Tomlin-hating, Debbie Downer Steeler fans. How ya doin' fellas?

I'm not a Tomlin-hating Debbie Downer, but how do you excuse leaving Josh Dobbs in the game against Oakland when Ben was okay to go back in? And how could you put a ******* linebacker on Keenan Allen, one of the better WRs in the league etc.? I understand people's frustration, I'm just of the (perhaps naive) mindset that he's learned from his mistakes and will be better.

Everyone makes mistakes. That Raiders game mishap w holding Ben out too long was on Tomlin. As were his bonehead challenges. And yeah, Butler's defensive schemes looked terrible at times over the past few seasons. Not going to deny any of that.

But to suggest Tomlin and the Steelers coaches aren't among the best in the league is ignorant and petty. But it's cool, the Tomlin haters will continue hating. I'll keep rooting for him and the team to win games.

I don't hate Tomlin, I just don't think he's a great coach. That said, he is a Top Five coach currently but the bar has been lowered significantly since the 70's when seven hall of famers were on the sidelines every week.
Tomlin's regular season record is pretty good but he hasn't done jack **** in the playoffs since Cowher's players retired.

I expect this from you. Typical Coach speak; but I promised Wig that I wouldn't bash you anymore this week.

Hi.

What team's defensive schemes 'aren't similar"??? Unless you change the entire base defense - schemes (3-4/4-3/Nickle/Dime/Quarters/Goalline) each has it's similarities in formation.

I guess the HC should have kicked the missed FG's himself. We know that we lost 2 games because of missed FG's. Perhaps he, the HC, could have done a better job at defending than Joe Haden and we wouldn't have seen the mysterious (and multiple) PI calls???

I get it - Coach Tomlin ain't perfect. It's been noted. He makes mistakes just like every other human being on the planet...

I understand your point. Personally, I don't see the 'big deal' about risking putting my franchise QB back into the game BEFORE I had full confirmation from the medical staff. At that point of the season we were very much in the playoff race.

Unfortunately, we had to depend on the Browns to convert a 4th down play against the Ravens. If Mayfield completes that pass - the Steelers advance to the playoffs...

Really? Football has changed SO much in the past 40+ years you want to compare coach from that era and now??? I'm dead...
