Roster Moves a Comin'

Spencer picked up by the Broncos. Good luck to him.

Shame as I was hoping he would make it to the PS.

they are gonna stash Justin Layne on the IR. They don't need him on this roster, but they don't want to risk the PS either. He will replace Artie Next year. Im convinced.. I don't usually speculate on crap like this..

You might be right. That or Chick.

I dont believe you can make up an injury. I think you can exaggerate an injury like Ola last year, but that is it.

I think Layne is injured. As is Chick and Ola.

How developed is Dobbs though? Year three when a player is supposed to rise, he took a step back.

For every positive splash play we would get a negative one. I mean I am all for getting what we can for players. But I am thinking his value is minimal...

I totally hear you and my getting something was more than likely "wishful thinking". If that is truly the case, then why is he on the 53??? I'd cut bait and kept Holton / Spencer.

edit: I see Spencer is gone to broncos

I don't get keeping Dobbs over Hodges. Somebody is going to pick up Hodges. Hopefully in the NFC.

undisclosed,,, idk. cope don't have it on his tracker yet either. Soo..

It might be minor, doesn't matter the degree though. I believe you can IR any injury small or large...

Teams always are fascinated with running QBs. It's like a shiny toy with sharp poison needles on it. Every time they touch it they lose a draft pick but they can't stop touching it. Nobody in their right mind would trade for Dobbs. Having said that there are some very stupid teams and owners so you never know.

The metaphor alone is worth about 500 Likes.

Dobbs or Hoyer, if your starting QB was injured for a game and you need a win?
As a Vols fan, having seen Dobbs since his first start at Tennessee, and watching his progress ... I'll take Hoyer.

This is why Spencer was my #1 choice. He plays all the WR spots, and is a top returner. Denver got a very good player. Holton makes sense, and will be on this roster, but I hate losing the potential of Spencer. I would have kept him over Switzer, but I know I'm probably a minority there.

Not sure who the Steelers should pick up at TE, I'm just saying any addition is better than Gentry, and if CSW was healthy this preseason, he would have made this roster. He's really improved this year, and his blocking is getting good.

Also I updated the spreadsheet, only 3 players eligible to be IRed. Layne, Chick, Ola. No chance they IR Davis.

I am one who has suggested Switz would be on the roster over Rogers, but I am not enamored with him. I think size is a real issue for him. I don't know that Spencer was better or worse or same...I just haven't seen enough snaps with him. That said, sometimes the team goes with the devil they know over the one they don't know.

DId you get to see CSW outside of games? Wish I had gone to camp...he would have been one I would have watched a bit. It would be a nice story to see him go from from rugby star to active NFL player.

From what I saw his blocking improved and the buzz was that he was looking like a football player and they were impressed with his progress. Then the injury hit...

Hopefully Switz is fully healthy, I believe he was banged up much of last year. Switz has one thing going for him, Ben seems to trust him. He's good enough to move the chains, has steady hands, does a decent job getting open. What is clearly missing with him are splash plays, be it in the passing game or on returns. Maybe if he finally manages to bust out a long return or turn a short catch into a long gain, that monkey will be off his back and he can play looser and with more confidence. I'm rooting for the kid.

thanks slash!

I was hoping to get to camp this year but life happened. I hope to get up there next year.

Btw, this is an interesting tidbit. Kelly has been very impressive from what I've seen of him. Perhaps a changing of the guard at FS is on the horizon? Or is this just a short term thing due to Davis injury. We'll see.

And a - highly significant - announcement regarding the roster, Kameron Kelly will wear jersey #29. Didn't notice any other jersey changes.
