Today the Steelers announced their first official depth chart via Steelers.com A quick run down of the depth chart didn’t exactly throw any surprises at anyone familiar with the 2018 team. The Steelers added linebacker Mark Barron during the off-season before drafting Devin Bush. While Bush is sure to see a bunch of first team […]

About what I expected for the first release. It will change.

What the hell,.......... I didn't see either Bell or A.Brown listed........anywhere. Are they MIA

Chart is generic and let's you know projected 53.

Rader is listed ahead of Gentry at Tightend.

Then after looking at it. Its just a chronological depth chart based on who was here in the the league first.. then it falls by draft pick... smh

And CSW ahead of both of them.. hope you’re right about that. If Gentry is really that far behind, we’re in trouble at TE. Same with Brian Allen ahead of Justin Layne. That’s not good unless the order is like you say

I don't expect this to be the official Week 1 roster...

I don't actually believe it is the official roster depth right now kev, the team always plays a little 'rope-a-dope' with the depth charts. I like to compare an off site chart like Ourlads and note the differences.

as has been written....
Perhaps it is a gentle reminder Mike Tomlin puts no value in the preseason depth chart he is required to release since he typically lists the players in terms of experience.

I actually agree with this approach. It is too early in the process to declare such things. Let the competition process work itself through. Seems to me a depth chart shouldn't be required until end of preseason.

It is interesting that Dobbs is still listed as #2. Could be as you suggest "depth by experience", but of course Dobbs WAS the #2 last year. Has he done enough to hold that spot? I wonder.

All that matters is who is 2 when camp breaks. And they need apple to apple comparison in the preseason. If Rudolph can't get a gameday hat in year 2 that is a concern.

CSW was in the league last year same as Rader, But CSW was with steelers, so he is listed higher. Then Rader,, practices squad with bills last year, then Gentry, Rookie, not in league last year.

If you go by early camp, no. But Rudolph has kind of peaked(as of now) and Dobbs bounced back from an atrocious start.

I would put them as almost now dead even with Dobbs having better scramble ability.

But preseason games could alter this, Tomlin obviously.

After watching the Raiders game last year, I think it is safe to say that if Ben goes down for any length of time we are done. If Rudolph is not good enough to leapfrog Dobbs than he has to be truly abysmal or have **** for brains.
