Im sure TE Depth is an issue. I haven't heard much about those battles. Grimble might be tall and fast and can catch. But he wasn't used in the past for his blocking.

Final cuts it wouldn't be a shocker to see a TE brought in.

I guess you can't be what you are not but I'd love to see Jay Sam and possibly Snell line up in Search - H-back and lead runs and leak out into a route. I think that would be deadly. Due to Macdonald's injury history clearly this is the position that causes the most concern of not having a legitimate starter. Obviously, there are worse case scenarios with other players that are worse. But yeah, pretty scary.

Ok, I'll play...

I trust the knowledge of the FO and coaches, firstly - they may not always be right, but they have the best insight of what's actually happening in the facility and on the field.

1. Ol' MacDonald - easily #1 TE and is a beast on the field. This year I have higher expectations w/ the loss of the top target from last year.

2. Grimble - IMO, he's a silent assassin. We all know how his 'extra effort' cost the team points and the overall W; but he can block, catch and he's not slow. Perhaps his head is too large, but I'll defer to Coach on that data...

3. Gentry - absolutely unproven, but I did watch a game or two of Michigan - the kid can play and think it'll take a year but we'll be satisfied w/ this pick by 2020. C'mon, he's already better than Matt Spaeth.

If I had to, right now, pick between Rader and Scotland-Williamson---I'd put JaySam in the role because of his known versatility and speed. Match up nightmare...

That is all.

The Steelers don't seem to be as concerned as we are here on the Forum

Don't they read our posts???

They probably wouldn't broadcast their concerns.

I like Grimble as a #2 TE. as a long term #1 TE, he wouldn't cut it, I don't think.

I don't think I'd want to trade away anything for a #3 TE, or even a #2 TE at this point.

The Gentry pick didn't excite me, at all.

Final cuts it wouldn't be a shocker to see a TE brought in.

I think Randy Fichtner is smart enough to use Samules as an option as the #2 TE in some sets. And what a mis-match weapon he can be! It's the #2 blocker that worries me. Might have to stick the 2nd string tackle in there.

That’s because we’re gonna pull a good ol’ cheating *pats classic, and sign Gronk. Wouldn’t that be something. Naturally, he’s currently a shell of his former self, so that definitely would be par for the course with this organization.

Not much left out there Jermaine Gresham, Antonio Gates, Austin Seferian Jenkins, Zach Miller the only names most of us would recognize. I haven't heard of most of the other remaining options.

I remember reading something about his blocking coming along well. But can he pass catch.....

Sent from my moto g(7) power using Steeler Nation mobile app

Last year he couldn't block at all. He's hitting the sleds with pop this TC. Athleticism isn't a problem. He's a former rugby player, and can catch, plus he's 6'9"! He has a shot at #3 this year and he knows it. I'd like to see better performance from him blocking pass rushers though.

I didn't realize he was 6'9", WhoALy **** Batman. Mismatch city in red zone .

Salute the nation

Our TE depth is pretty lackluster, but I would imagine thats the case with most NFL teams?
Mcdonald has been solid when healthy although similar to Pouncey and Conner, I would be shocked if any of them stay healthy for 16 games.

Where's Eric Green? He would look good in the Black and Gold. We should bring him in, sign him for vet minimum. ;-)

I had great hopes for Gentry. You can't coach "Big". I sincerely hope he starts showing some promise.

Actually BigBen, nobody was harder on Pouncey those few years he was injury-riddled than me. I agreed he was a highly talented player, but he was ALWAYS injured, hurt or at least dinged-up.

That said, he's been very solid for the last couple, maybe three years. I was made to eat my hat.

Maurkice Pouncey has missed exactly 2 games in the last 4 seasons.
