Hey, everyone, hope you're all enjoying the countdown to Latrobe. It's almost here... haha

Today, I had to take a look back. I couldn't shake the fact that 2018 was just BIZARRE for the Steelers. Truly. So many weird moments — almost all of them contained in that 0-3 run agains the AFC West.

So... I made a little countdown article ranking the 5 times things went inexplicably wrong.

Hope you enjoy it.

It's right here, 100% free and open to read for all.

I will mention, of course, we're running a promotion here with Steeler Nation where you get 50% off a one-year subscription PLUS Steeler Nation keeps $10 of the $20 you pay. We get $10, Steeler Nation get $10, and you get a full year of the (pardon my bias) best, most comprehensive, onsite and exclusive Steelers coverage on the Internet.

Get that right here.

Good writeup as usual. I see a lot of issues addressed but admit no.5 still makes me nervous. If that will be a continuing problem, one that training camp might not necessarily give an answer people are comfy with.

Agreed there. But Boswell was so uncharacteristically bad last season, I think it truly was just that: uncharacteristic. I'm not sure if that groin injury that eventually flared up near the end of the season bothered him all year or what. But it just feels like it won't repeat.

Hunter, you d a very nice job with these. It's more than a job to you as I can see the passion of STEELERS with in, I thank you.

CRAZY *** year, fully agree AND this year needs to be where the "CRAZY" lands our way. We are off to a very good start due to how unified this team seems to be, a change from last year and that's a start.

Salute the nation

Man I hope you are 100% right. Knock on wood.

To be honest, I lost confidence in Boswell

He is not the same since his missed FG in week 1 in Cleveland last year ... He has lost confidence since that moment ... I could be wrong but I think the steelers are going to have a new kicker at some point this season ... Maybe even before week 1 .... It's nothing against him, it's just I lost confidence.

I think Boswell was hurt all season and the coaches and trainers just kept trotting him out there hoping he'd gut it out.

The way he went off the cliff like that, doesn't make any sense. Sure, a kicker can lose confidence and start missing, but this cat missed what... 12 kicks last season, 5 of them PATs?

If that wasn't injury he aint comin' back from it. He lost it and he sucks balls.

And THEN one has to question WTF the coaches would keep him on if he can't kick a ******* PAT?

Again I say this team with the talent it had, should not come down to blaming Boz or patting him on the back. This defense has not done well on third down and continues to give the offense bad field position. We all our hyped up for this year from talk only about the players pissed coaches pissed new direction. That we will have to witness

My problem with Boz is that you wont know if he has his **** together or not till it really matters. And by then options are very limited. I'd have preferred using a late pick o a kicker and moving on. If indeed it was a mechanical thing due to an injury, I dont know. But if he was injured it should have been reported and the team should have got someone else.

I agree....I saw an article this morning by Mark Madden who said our season is going to depend on Boswell!

I wish the steelers had more blowout ... I mean, many say the steelers lost a lot of close games last year, which is true, but they won a lot too ... They have had 6-5-1 in a one score game in 2018 (8-2 in 2017), so 12 of his game were close. The steelers need to be more dominant than that, since too much thing can happen (good or bad) in the last 5 minutes in a game ... I can understand that games against the Pats or the saints are close, but no reason that the games against Hue Jackson and the Browns and the Raiders are games decided at the end ... Too easy to blame the kicker when a great team are supposed to win well before!

Bullshit. How many games did the great Hoodie and Bwady win only by a FG or 2? At least 3 SB's. Best QB and Coach in history, while cheating, only won by a 3-6 points!!!! Last two years 2 PO games by 4 points or less. A hiccup or two by their kicker and they go from 6* SB to 3*. Not to mention the demoralization of your team after what might have been a tough drive downfield only to see your kicker miss a gimmee FG.

Big difference between a playoff game and a super bowl and a regular season game against an awful team like Hue Jackson and the Browns and the awful Raiders

I think kickers have the ability to come back and correct issues that happen.

I don't think kickers have a very good history of that happening. Seems like once that confidence is gone, it all goes to hell. I really hope I'm wrong.

I compare this to a closer in Baseball ... The moment a closer have a blown save in a huge playoffs game, they are often not the same after.

No team just swaggers through a season untouched beating the **** out of everyone. its 6 points here and 3 points there. And it isn't just a missed game winner. Its getting a two score lead at a critical time. Boswell would have to look ******* amazing in training camp and preseason. And even then I would have my concerns. If the guy they brought in was close and didn't get picked up on waivers, his *** would be on my PS and the first time Bos ****** up big would be the last.

I know it's not possible to win every game by blowout, but at the same time, 75% of the games of the steelers last year were decided by a one-game score ... It's way too much ..... At least they are competitive on almost game, but they rarely dominate their opponent to start to finish, regardless of the quality of the opposing team.

For Boswell, yes he deserves to be on the hot seat

I guess you mean the Browns game where all of that offensive talent allowed 4 sacks, gave up 3 interceptions and a fumble?

Yeah it was a awful game for the steelers.Lucky the opponent had Hue Jackson as HC, otherwise it would have been easily a loss.

Good article. The Grimble goal line play has been mentioned a few times lately. One poster even blamed the culture that Tomlin has created for that play? I read that and thought WTF? The guy made a football play....trying to run over a guy to get in. The DB made a great play. Usually on here people applaud that type of aggression. Think of the Bettie's hit on Urlacher....legendary. Hines ward would go out of his way to punish a DB after a reception. Yeah he should of tucked it in and dove over the goal line. But come on...the game at that point was the start of the second quarter. Steelers had over 500 yds of O that game, with one td.Connor had a ball that inexplicably shoot out of his hands. But the real beauty was Big Ben's int on the 3 with a minute to go. That was a remote throwing moment.
