This kid seems like he could be a real find and still cannot believe he wasn’t drafted. After starting in 31 of 38 games at Texas and I might add a very impressive career, the video I’ve watched looks like this kid was a human missile the way he hits.

He’s already reached out to Ryan Clarke for advice on the transition of college to the pros and Clarke has said he’s very impressed.

Excellent article on PJ from 247 Sports Jim
Wexell talking about this kid and his career at Texas, and graduated in 3-/12 years as well which is a plus for me. Means he set his sights on a goal and completed that goal which indicates determination.

My dark horse to be a surprise this summer and make the team.

What do you draft gurus have on PJ and why he may have been overlooked in the draft.

Watching video, he certainly doesn't shy away from making a tackle.

He'll have his chance in Latrobe.

Fast and the kid can hit. I would love to see if he could handle the backup FS position.

If I was a undrafted free agent....and a safety in college...

The Steelers would of been my first phone call...

As a Longhorn alum and watching for 4 years there is a background here of DBU . I did think he tailed off a bit last season . I think he will get a good look. Great kid, no character issues at all. Wish him the best.

Why do you feel he tailed off? Injury, conditioning, effort, or something else?

Not long ago they had one of the best duos in the league with Polamalu and Clark. Safety is definitely one of the weakest areas on the team and a spot where a young guy has a shot to stick. Dino, perfect statement about the Steelers being at the top of the list for an UDFA.

I didn’t watch alot of Texas.. but what I’ve been reading, did he play a lot of both corner and safety? If so he could be the versatile wildcard that slips through the cracks. A versatile defender, who I’m sure with that speed and hit power can be a ST gem. With that skill set he could be eyeing the 53 regardless of who we keep at S. Could be looking at a Brian Allen/Dirty red type replacement. And I like both.
