Cowher's warts often popped up at QB. I always thought that was his biggest roadblock. Not having consistency at the position.

Agreed, but to not acknowledge his lack of offensive aggression is a bit of revisionist history. And I'm sure that won them many games too. But the fact is in that 2001 AFC Championship, the defense did its job. They lost on a lack of Offense and a special teams gaffe. Much the same way they did with the Chargers in '94.

Cowher stuck with Kordell to long similar to how Hairball is going to with Jackson. Low percentage pass completions with instincts to run. Today's NFL isn't catering to those kinds of aurterbacks so we'll see how Baltiwhore does this year in that regards. Cowher had talent on both sides of the ball but "D" was his strength

Wow,,, brings back those memories of alll those years with awesome d and ****** qb play coupled with no name receivers.
Those running QBs so many flame out. They better develop into QBs that run to set up the pass with the quickness.
I agree to a point, but IMO Harrison's int return for a TD to end the first half tops the list. Holmes' TD catch was a great play by Ben and Holmes to get his toes down, but so many more people were involved in getting Harrison to the goal line. He has a group running out ahead to clear the way and without the whole team on the field doing their part, he never would have made it
Good point the Harrison momentum swing was the ultimate team effort on enforcing a will to be great. We can say both of those plays were necessary to bring on victory.

The Harrison play is a massive momentum swing. But you cant just subtract the points and say they lose. There is still a whole half to play. But if something goes wrong on that drive it is at best overtime and at worst lost. There is a timeline show of " the Catch". It was a high throw and a well timed jump by Clark with Montana under pressure. And it was the NFC championship. Big deal.

What about Ben Roethlisberger's 3- 500+ yard passing games. I know it's not one individual play but still pretty amazing. Consider that t*mmy b*y, even with his assisted NFL living arrangements, has ONLY 1- 500+ yard passing game. I think Eli Manning has two and maybe one other p-layer. AWESOME BEN !

My personal opinion is that it was a combination of the Georgia incident and the fact that Ben was probably a dick to the media in the first half of his career. He will never be given his due. If they win it becomes about personal stats. If he has monster stats it becomes about winning. ANY other QB leads that drive he is MVP of the game. The drive has a name and the catch has a name. He has to lead this team to one more SB championship and just shove it down their throats.
Sorry, I thought we were talking about the longest SB plays...
That and getting a new OC every year or two didn't help. People might have bitched about The Bruce and Todd Haley but I remember the Ray Sherman and Kevin Gilbride years.

Ray Sherman was one and done and terrible the whole time. I think Cowher even took over some play calling in that time.

It's kind of morphed into all GREAT plays and that's pretty kewl remembering them. What's realy amazing is the number of great plays the STEELERS franchise has been involved in. In comparison to other franchises I'd say PITTSBURGH seems to be head and shoulders above others. I realize we are STEELERS fans and may see more than most but I truly wonder how we stack up on great plays VS the rest of the league.

Speaking of them and some other great Super Bowl memories, that David Tyree helmet catch was incredible. That Plaxico Burress catch in the corner EZ to essentially seal the deal was equally enjoyable. That second SB they lost against the same team was also pretty fun to watch.
