Buggs the new Keisel?

I read it and thought it was a bit of a ridiculous comparison. **** if all these draft picks panned out the way the stories read they will win the SB for the next three years. This guy will fight roster numbers to make the team. Then he is behind a mountain of talent and experience at his position. And the head coach buries guys like this on the roster and practice roster until it becomes so painfully obvious, which in this guys case could be three years minimum.

Just curious, who do you think is that mountain of talent ahead of him? Sure, Cam Tuitt and Alu, but who after that? I think Buggs could easily secure the 4th DE spot.

Lets say he is fourth on the roster which he would currently be behind Hooks based upon experience. Its a two man position. Lets see him play in preseason, make the roster, make the active roster, play a couple seasons before we project to Brett Keisel.

Ridiculous to compare a rookie to a vet without playing a down of professional football. Especially a late rounder that has to show he can make a roster.

And a question. Buggs is primarily a 5 technique defensive end, and don't the Steelers DE's play three tech. So maybe some sub packages, but how does he see the field a lot.

It would be nice. Buggs has tremendous upside. If he has a good camp, they won't be able to try and stash him on the PS, they will finally have to get rid of Big Dan.

No there is room for both, Buggs would be replacing Walton.

In addition...there is a a reason that several hundred other players were selected before him.

The numbers are there...but why did he last so long?

Whats the rub on this guy?
Besides what was mentioned it is his size, short body of work if I remember correctly.

The Oak tree or the SHADE tree????

And his tendency to take multiple plays off. Depot has an article on it with video of him both giving 100%, and then barely touching the OL on the next play. He's come to the right place if he thinks he's going to take any plays off at the NFL level.

There was absolutely no substance to that article. So the guy is going to be a good starter because he had a productive season last year and plays in a similar scheme to the Steelers? Where's the real analysis and comparisons?

Down here it's Oak Tree.

Can you explain "down here" better? Is it in reference to the time you spend with t*mmy b*y or is it when you sink "down" to another level?

You got me. He was ultra productive in the SEC, and stood out at the senior bowl. He's not a very quick or fast guy, so I guess he's seen as a NT type in the NFL, but we can use one of those. His Bull rush is good. Hardly a wide 9 type of pass rusher.

Yeah I read that article too. What I took from that was he was pretty damn productive for them to break down film and say he was inconsistent. But there was a draft report questioning his work ethic. Not to mention a soso combine.

So yeah he had enough knocks to knock him down. I think he is a developmental project. But when a player doesn't have a lot of top college experience I think it is reasonable to not be surprised at inconsistent tape.

We will see soon enough how well he consistently holds up.

All that said I like his potential.

Fair assessment.
