So, looking over this roster, there are a few players I kind of forgot about, a few that are obvious camp bodies, and - maybe - a few dark horses with a chance?

Among players of obscurity....

Olasunkanmi Adeniyi, OLB, UFA 2018, Toledo. I remember a little buzz about him in camp last year (unless it was another guy with a preposterous long name).
He's a little on the short side (but the best OLB in the history of the franchise wasn't even 6 foot, Harrison). I view the OLBs like the CBs: It's about damn time
we get lucky with a lower pick or UFA at this point, after so many misses. Is this the guy?

He did make some very familiar #92 plays in the preseason.

Please, let him be the new terror we need at OLB opposite TJ. We know Bud ain't it.

Brian and Marcus Allen. One's a CB the other a S. It would sure be nice if one stepped up to become a legit player. We need at least 1 to.

Buggs, DL, Bama. we need quality depth on DL. Frazier wasn't it last year. McCullers is a giant, inanimate object. We need Buggs to work out.

Travon McMillian, RB, Colorado U. I seriously doubt he has much a shot of sticking, but he looks like a decent RB.

Rader drew raves from Mike Tomlin on the practice field Tuesday after a downfield block inside the 5-yard line catapulted Tevin Jones into the end zone to complete a long catch-and-run.

"That's my game," Rader said later. When asked if he meant downfield blocking, he said, "No, playing until the whistle."

Rader grew up idolizing Miller and believes No. 83 should be retired by the Steelers."

Ola flashed last year and there is talk of him replacing Durpee. We'll see if Durp improves this season, if not Ola will play.

Your own link said marginally productive little different than never been productive. The draft eval said some positives as well. Did you pull up any draft footage of him? Watch any games? Little silly to lock in an opinion just based on what a draft site said on him. That is coach-ish. To debate negatively an undrafted player is silly as well. All undrafted players are longshots. So it isn't a revelation when one doesn't make it. Thing about you pop on a booby is you love to throw here and there ten dollar words in sentences, and turn around and give twenty five cent football conversations. So that cancels out any new word you just learned when you can't grasp the basic football fundementals. Evolve be better.

I can, as well as many others, LIVE with that. All I've ever wanted is for the BEST PLAYER TO PLAY, regardless of income or position of draft pick. I've never bought into that"automatic starter or relegated to practice squad due to position in draft or pay scale. BEST PLAYER AVAILABLE is a big ticket and should be followed. It's amazing how many coaches / owners don't see it that way.

How about THIS? I THINK his low production (fact) is indicative that he's not going to do anything in the NFL.

If your best season is 22 grabs at Youngstown, you probably aren't going to light up the NFL.

to the OP question regarding diamond in the rough...I'd say Ola is the easiest and most logical choice, but we all saw this kid last year as a possible DitR. For new faces on the team, my first thought was Kameron Kelley just because of a few highlight snaps I saw. But they were highlights. His height is intriguing and his size is great for CB but could put on a few for safety. Speed and reactions looked okay on the film I saw so maybe he is improved his speed from his 4.66/4.68 at the combine. He played S in school most of his time and only switched to Safety his Senior year. Safety depth is a concern for us and if that is a more natural position for him then he certainly has a shot to find a spot on the roster. I don't know if he is that diamond in the rough, but I think he has a chance to get a helmet for the year.

Production is the #1 precursor of all possible indicators. Quite telling you don't realize that.
