Tomlin is the number four slide and all it says is he needs to re-take the locker room. My thought are he NEEDS to do more than that. Of a couple, he needs to have better in game adjustments and coaching players up. A lot has been discussed on tomlin but what about other coaches in the NFL. Do other teams seem to have similar issues?? The browns seem to just fire or mid-season replace theirs. The Ravens have kept haiball a very long time and I think rightfully so. Could you imagine him with as loaded a talented team as the STEELERS have had over the last decade???

Yes and YES!
This and this.....all kinds of this.

The distraction specters of seasons past are gone.
There should be ZERO excuses of lockerroom drama now.
Conners showed he can adequately replace Bell.

Questions we need answered are :
Replacing Brown's production from the WRs.
Devin Bush's readiness to step in day 1 and produce
The look of the secondary and if Nelson is what they think he can be for us.

As with the previous couple of seasons, the most and most important question marks are with our defense.

omlin needs to prove that he can regain control of the Steelers' locker room, which should be much easier without Antonio Brown and Le'Veon Bell. The Steelers still have a playoff roster, and expectations will be high in Pittsburgh. Tomlin basically just needs to prove he hasn't been tuned out by his players.

As he has been 'tuned out' by the fans...

I don't know wig as he is a pretty "HOT" topic around here.

CMVLT needs to show more than he has been showing. It's not just what the last two years have been but even before that. I hope he is seeing his wake up call and actually wakes up because we could use a VERY successful season. With the twins gone, he has no distractions.

What about Andy Reid, his MO has been big season but nowhere in the play offs as well. He has a tendency to over think and scheme to much similar to our very own Bruce Ariens did. With Mahomes, I'd think Andy's job is secure but what about 8 years from now????

All of our coaches have something to prove, especially Butler. Still can't believe he survived 2016 afcc and Jax PO game. Tomlin's current coaching tree ain't got no branches which doesn't bode well for our cheerleader HC.

I remember Jim Wexell writing that Tomlin "wouldn't fire Butler, because he would be firing himself" after the Jags debacle. Now Bundy effectively gets demoted to LBs coach. So, we figure to have even more Tomlin fingerprints all over this thing.

Butler will be right at home comfy with the LBers. Seeing how Tomlin is now DC.

He needs to show he can win a playoff game or two now that all but one of the players are ''his'' players.

For all his shortcomings, Tomlin is still a top five coach in this league. Which speaks to the shortcomings of everyone else. You don't have seven hall of famers roaming the sidelines every week like you did in the 70's.

This is the point that we have to bow to the Bill Parcells NFL canon that "you are what your record says you are."

However, few coaches have had the same built-in advantages enjoyed by Tomlin since the time he stepped on stage. In terms of all things being equal and native ability apart from the sum of his surrounding parts, he's more middle of the pack if we could envision some mythical "NFL Coaching Skills Challenge" like they used to do with the Qbs.

Didn't Wex also say Tomlin was the smartest HC he's been around? And that includes Noll. Jim has lost journalistic impartiality. Every thing he writes if a fluff piece on coaches and players. Say anything negative on his MB and your banned.

i hope tomlin refuses any contract extension and just coaches out this contract
that way he can prove how great of a coach he is(second best in nfl) by going to another team and proving it with a different cast of players and organization
and you know darn well tomlin would get paid a huge amount bu some team wanting his services
tomlin is actually doing himself an injustice staying with the steelers. he could be making more money and would be able to prove he didnt win with cowhers players if he left

IIR, the exact words were "most intellectual coach I've ever been around." Pretty sure Wex wasn't around Noll though. From reading some of Wex's thoughts in recent years, he has been honest that he felt like he was too hard on Cowher during the 6-10 year in '03 and pre-Ben when it seemed like he would never reach the summit. That seems to color his kinder, gentler approach with Tomlin, IMO.

I'm not sure he went that far. But he's cited his vast knowledge of many different subjects. And being smart doesn't necessarily make one a good football coach I wouldn't think.

I've liked some of Wex's stuff but even he seems to get out there at times. Him as well as many other talking heads, occasionally sensationalize for clicks. "most intellectual" is quite an accolade to have on your resume, congratulations CMVLT..!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I see what you did there. :beers:

Can they game plan without losing to ****** teams?

Can they do better in game adjustments?

Can they stop EVER putting a LB on a WR?

And can they get a ******* challenge right? Read recently that Shades is 0-9 the last two seasons.

I must say, the negativity here is refreshing?

That's tongue-in-cheek, but we just broke up the 90's Triplets and have 3 playoff wins to show for 5 years of All Time Greatness. More people should be going "Network" over this, and not Pravda.

The sarcasm overfloweth. Or yikes it makes me a little queasy

Mikey Sunglasses has nothing to prove. As long as he can break even the Rooneys will keep paying him.

He's going to be +8 this season and throw in 3 more for post season.

You can't fire a coach who never had a losing record. Mikey Sunglasses could go 0-0-16 and it would be all good.
