I usually go to at least one game a year.Will be hitting a pirate game up too .

Whats the big deal about seeing Ben live??? I can see him on TV much better.
 
I have to explain this to fans all the time. We get far too much credit for being ardent fans. Every talking head who covers games mentions how we've bee "sold out since 1970."

Well, yea, someone buys all the tickets but a great deal of them are bought by scalpers and secondary ticket vendors. As far as actual attendance, we aren't that impressive, unless
we are truly contending for a ring. If it becomes apparent we are just a middling team, fans don't show.

And I'm not casting blame: The Rooneys and NFL have allowed greed to price going to the games out of people's budget. I'm glad I have gone to games but I don't see me going to
many more. The at home experience is better in many ways.

The tickets are sold. What is supposed to happen after they are sold. All of Canada is completely gripped by Toronto Raptors fever right now. But my buddy got one ticket for his 20 something kid, yesterday and three for him and the rest of his family for Sunday and he lives almost 3000km away. Its called commerce.

Well, you can call it whatever you want, but Steeler fans are not showing up to games. The Jags have more fans show up per game than Pitt does.
 
I really don't know what you are expecting. The tickets are already sold or at least posted by to the secondary site. Should the owners buy them back.
 
The last few years....I would rather see them play on the road...

Our "away" fans put the "home" fans to shame..

Last home game I went was opening day 2 years ago when they had the Dan Rooney dedication prior to kickoff...

I was pumping up the expected scene and celebration with my wife....told her this is going to be awesome to see and hear...

I was never more disappointed in my life to be a Steeler fan during and after the ceremony...

Half the crowd didn't seem to give a rats *** about celebrating a great owner, man, and Pittsburgher...

The Steeler fans take that stadium over every single time we play them. They also have 10 thousand seats covered up. You couldn't give tickets away to a jagoff games a few years back.
 
I love going to games, love the atmosphere, love being able to see the play develop downfield, unfortunately with parking and the price of tickets it's just to much to pay to go.
 
Steelers, Pens and Pirates need yinz who can go.
If I had more income, I’d definitely be there making noise
 
In recent years, the home fans have become incredibly lame. The combination of price, length of games, and the ridiculous number of night games seems to have done a number on the local fans.

I wish the ones who didn't want to go would give the tickets to those who would use them. (for that game) (if they weren't selling them)

Get your facts straight please. Only two teams in the NFL use actual gate counts in announcing game attendance. Pittsburgh and the Giants. All other clubs announce game attendance by tickets sold. So if you want to measure empty seats to attendance be consistent. The league clubs are not.

Additionally, Pittsburgh has one of the largest fan base in away stadiums. I have been to Atlanta, Charlotte, Nashville, JAX, Washington and Indy and all were overrun by Steeler Nation. The only exception was in Arrowhead. There was a contingent of Steeler fans, but Chief fans was 3/4.

This is a tough spot. People always ask for tickets and when I come across some for sale (face value), they don't want to pay. You start giving away tickets, that becomes an expectation.

OK, first of all, they cover up 10,000 seats of an 80k seat stadium. So, yea, they can't fill up 80,000 seats. It's that big for the UF-GA game.

Secondly, yes, Steeler fans rock Jag games, but mostly because so many Burgers moved down to Jax. Steeler fans are all over North East FL.

Buffalo, Cleveland and Detroit are always overrun by SN.

The games at Ford Field probably provides a 48hr window of safety for Steeler fans in downtown Detroit. The Nation is everywhere....who else would go there? lol

It was great, several years ago in Detroit Rock City, when the Steelers were up big early in q3, the Lions fans started leaving in droves, walking up the stairs in their light blue shirts.
It was a reverse waterfall. The rest of the game was really like a preseason game at Heinz: stadium 2/3 full, all Steeler fans, everybody happy ......

Lok at some of these other teams web sight and see what tickets cost and how many advertise tickets available. Then live out of town and look up prices at Steeler games, it tells the story of empty seats
 
The tickets for Heinz are already sold, so in this case it's not the $. Maybe it's become too much of a hassle for some folks, and other things to do in life. Maybe, like me, those season ticket holders have aged to the point where it's more comfortable to watch it from the couch.

Whatever the reason though, if you're not going to attend, I wouldn't think it would be too difficult in finding someone that would love a game or two a year, either given away, or at the most face value.

In my case I'm going back and forth trying to decide if I want to spend $800 to $1000 for me and the wife to attend the Cards game in December. Being old and all, that's a lot of coin for a retired fart.

You can rationalize it any way you want to, but my eyes work. Fans are not filling the stadium, period. Not even close.

Your eyes don't need to do any work since the Steelers report their actual turnstile count. All Ike was pointing out is other teams attendance figures are inflated because they announce tickets sold, not actual game attendance.
