Here's the answer and it came from the Cheech & chong movie where cheech is talking to the parrot.......

Cheech: "Want to get high,...want to get high..."

Smith: "I am high........ I am high....."

Worked out with the Running Backs today at practice.

I guess my question is, why?

Smith was named the Missouri Large School Player of the Year as a senior running back (more than 2,000 rushing yards, 32 total touchdowns) but received no FBS offers except from Northern Illinois. It did not take long for Huskies coaches to discover that his place was on defense

If I had a horse I hear the place to take him is old town road.

Well, ever since the Sr. Bowl, it's been stated, matter of factly, that he will have to switch positions to make it in the NFL....most assumed that meant switching to ILB....but now, with this? Who knows.

I think there was a LB who switched from LB to RB on the Eagles and maybe another team, white guy with mohawk hair, but I think he ended up moving back to LB and eventually got playing time.

I look at it as them just seeing what he is capable of. Not that they are locked into moving him. And way too early to call him a wasted pick..

Drafting is like fishing: The more lines you got in the water the better your chances. Of course, your chances are better if you don't have any jacked up lines in the water. Here's hoping SS isn't a jacked up line.

We barely use a FB.. Sutton is 1 inch taller and 15 pounds lighter than nix, which is nothing to gain at this level. If Sutton can play defense and special teams, and play halfway decent as a FB, he raises his value tremendously with his versatility. While also making Rosie Nix very, very, expendable.

Don' see it as it shoving Nix out the door.

That is a big leap.

It’s a huge leap. But Nix upside is obviously mostly on special teams. Steelers love versatility, and if that frees up a spot for another upside player, it could happen. Do I think it happens? Probably not. But hey, it’s a scenario lol.

Personally I just think it’s Offseason rotations that we probably won’t see happen in real action.

No this MUST mean he's a bust and a wasted pick..... jumping to conclusions is exactly how this works man

/Sarcasm

6th round picks are pretty far from usually making the team. (yea, yea, yea, AB was) SS is a classic tweener but sometimes they work out. You roll the dice in the 6th round. :smile-new:

They also are practicing more with Conner and Samuels in the backfield at the same time. We very well might see that at some point this year.

No ****. But how about we get them into pads and game situations before jumping the gun booby.

As we should, add Snell in that rotation and we could very well have the BEST backfield in the NFL. It all comes down to how they are used and I dang well tell you "running them till their wheels fall off" isn't the best way.

Sorry---not a fan of the pick.

Watched my fair share of N. Illinois football...

I never saw the expected "wow" from his play...

Stats are misleading--especially in smaller conference college football..
MAC has improved ...but still not at the level of the big boys.

Looks like Sutton has only one chance, be a special team player. I suppose the coaches might be able to carry him on the roster as a rb. He may be a guy that gets moved into different positions to see if he can stick.
