Big Ben bonds with teammates at his Georgia lake house
Plenty of former teammates have criticized Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger for being a bad teammate and a bad leader. That criticism has been a little over the top (and it has), as evidenced by the fact that Roethlisberger continues to make an effort to bond with his fellow Steelers.
Via NFL.com, the @SteelBlitzburgh account on Twitter has been posting videos of a gathering of players at Roethlisberger’s lake house in Georgia.
It’s a smart move by Roethlisberger, who has from time to time made waves for being aloof and distant and not as collegial and cordial as he could have been with fellow Steelers. And it’s a great sign for a Steelers team that seems to be seizing on past dysfunction as the fuel for a deep playoff run in 2019.
UPDATE 11:00 a.m. ET: Apparently, this isn’t a new practice — even though the item at the league-owned website created the impression that it is. Even though Roethlisberger has been doing it for a while, it takes on extra significance in the aftermath of intense criticism from the likes of former Steelers receiver Antonio Brown, who can be seen flashing his trademark smile in a photo from four years ago on the same lake.
Headline changed from this...
Ben Roethlisberger seems to have heard the criticism from former teammates, and he seems to be making changes because of it
These media ****** need to stop peddling the false narrative.
