Dave-Te Thomas works for scouting services. Isn't actually a scout. Not sure where he got his information. Hope he is wrong wrong wrong.

Same here. Don't know much about Ya-Sin, but a 4.51 forty is meh, and a 7.31 3-cone time is pretty bad for a LB, let alone a CB.

These guys, while not team/professional scouts, have him rated as a consensus 3rd rounder. And he struggles in zone coverage?

covering all your bases there, arent you?
too slow for quick receivers, too small for big receivers. not a #1 CB.

may as well not even bother with the guy.
or
sounds like we need to go ahead and move up to #1 to get him

I don't see him as a #1 corner, but I do see him as a #2 starting corner. If he's there in round 3 for us and we don't have a corner drafted, I'd take him. If he's drafted with our first round pick, I can all but guarantee other corners drafted later will pan out better,

The homers might cheer any first round pick. I think there are better players on the board, in round one and better corners ( unless Williams and Baker are already gone . )

Those numbers aren't That different from Murphy's and Baker's. That's why I keep advocating for not investing a 1sr round pick on Any CB

What I will say is this. If the Steelers draft Ya-Sin in the first, you have to consider the possibility that Tomlin is a plant from another team sent here to set the team back decades.

What about Greedy Williams's numbers? He's the tallest of the bunch of top corners with long arms. He's the fastest of the bunch of the top corners, and perhaps the best at creating turnovers too. On film, he gives up a little cushion and has a low amount of yards given up in coverage. He did this as a freshman and sophomore in the SEC.

I do agree with you, most of the top corners to me have a late first round grade to mid 2nd round grade, meaning I think the Steelers would reach for anyone not named Williams in round one at pick #20. The rest of the lot is has too many question marks in terms of height, speed, and in some cases, quality of competition played.

Cornerback is such a need these days, guys will be over drafted.

I hope this is just smoke and mirrors kind of stuff. Murphy IGing a pic of himself in a Steelers uni and Roc Ya-Sin info being leaked. Maybe they have interest in them but in round 2/3 but they want teams to think it’s safe not to trade ahead of us.

I like Justin Layne or Sean Bunting better than any of the other CBs. Great potential, good length and good enough athletically but both are ideally 2nd rounders.

The issue is that there are maybe 15-20 players with a genuine 1st round grade, more like 35 with 2nd round grades and about the same again with 3rd round grades. It is beauty in the eye of the beholder at the bottom of the first round and there will be many WTF moments on Thursday night, right through Friday.

The bad news is that there's a big gap in the areas of need for this team after the top 15. If we ever wanted to trade up then this is the year. Loads of people want to trade down.

I suggest you go to my new thread---since you want to bring up stats...

Cb is deaper than ilb or edge

Cb is deaper than ilb or edge

but perhaps isn't as ceiling high as the edge or ILber.

I wouldn't be shocked to see a round 1 ILBer or OLBer....

Dave Te Thomas is always an entertaining and insightful interview when they have him on the terrible podcast every year. Last year, pre draft, he proclaimed Terrell Edmunds the best Safety in the draft and said some team will sneak in and take him in round 1 despite the 2-3 grade people had on him, insinuating that the Steelers would be wise to do so. I'd say don't etch it in stone, but don't take it with a grain of salt.

I almost had a threesome with Jennifer Lopez and Janet Jackson

Wow, me too....But I couldn't take the pressure. So I dumped Janet & settled for J-Lo only

I am so pleased that we got Layne without having to move up. We've got the DB who potentially has the highest ceiling in the draft.
