Is there any chance that the Steelers go WR at 1.20?

I am praying that they get one of the two Devin's at LB but its not happening. I guess that cornerback is the next most pressing area of need but I just don't want the Steelers to reach for a guy like they did with Artie Burns. If they have to reach I would just go with the combine freak Metcalf at 1.20 and let Ben drop bombs to that cat all day long. Do you think that Metcalf will be there at 1.20 and if so, is there any way the Steelers could go that direction?

I think it would be foolish based on :
1) how incredibly deep this WR class is
2) our dire needs on the defensive side of the ball
3) our penchant for finding/developing WRs chosen in the later rounds

No need to panic reach due to Antonio Clown's departure.
We still have Big Biker, JuJu, JC, Jaylen, and a top 5 offensive line.
And I like the signing of Moncrief, who finally gets a real QB since his rookie year with Luck and the Colts, and the continued development of Washington.
If we honestly want to go for 7, we need to shore up our abysmal defense.
The offense needs depth in case of injury.
The defense needs immediate starters.

If we don't trade up and White and Bush are gone, they could go CB, WR, OLB, TE or possibly DL. So, yes, Metcalf would be a possibility if he is still there.

Taking Metcalf because he was a combine freak would be crazy. We already have a Metcalf on the roster just not as muscular (DHB).

I would be happy with Butler and wouldn't blink twice.

But I have a feeling their (Steelers) BPA would be a ILB/CB and S.

Metcalf seems like he could be a very good player, but he doesn't have the same lateral ability of the other receivers. I think AJ Brown is my favorite first-round prospect. Andy Isabella is a guy that really intrigues me later on in the draft.

WR, I don't think so based on the interview with Tomlin & Colbert where they clearly state how deep the WR class is....I wanna say they also said it wasn't a spectacular class or something like that...

I would be fine with Metcalf but #1 don't think the Titans/Giants pass on him. #2 What Tomlun & Colbert said indicates they will not go WR that early

NOW................I would say getting a playmaker at 20 makes sense...If Fant is there you better grab him

Couldn't have said it better myself. Now I don't need to. I absolutely would abhor the drafting of Metcalf. We have such bigger needs that it's not even funny, AND he has bust written all over him. These ultra big/muscular WRs are often hurt a lot. (See David Boston). Ben makes flawed WRs look like stars. How well do WRs do once they leave? OK, Mike Wallace has done OK, but just OK. Sanders has done pretty well. But what about Coates, Bryant, Holmes, Wheaton, etc. Almost nothing once out of Pitt.

I believe they will trade up and get their guy(D. Bush). That is if there is a willing trade partner.

Butler over Metcalf, yes sir I'd pull that triger but would hope it was in round 2. You best be sure that this draft is HEAVY "D" for us.

Yes, and it could be Metcalf. Paired with Ben, he would be a tremendous deep threat in the NFL. Ben makes players like Wallace and Bryant.

The Steelers currently have no deep threat. We have no " big " receiver either, though Ju-Ju is pretty big. Forget the combine freak for a moment and focus on what he did this season until he got hurt. He was tearing up the SEC with a mediocre QB throwing it to him. That's the guy. I don't care if he's not slashing route runner, he'll be great on go routes, and posts. He can certainly learn a comeback curl, and quick out route given the respect he'll get in terms of his speed. Probably hard to jam at the line too.

The self proclaimed draft guru's first two wants have glaring deficiencies. Greedy run D, Metcalf COD's.
