The Pittsburgh Steelers were fortunate enough to sign Joe Haden two seasons ago and he has provided fantastic coverage as well as play making ability. Unfortunately Pittsburgh has had trouble finding a cornerback to complement Haden and offer equivalent coverage on the other side of the field. Although Pittsburgh drafted Artie Burns back in 2016 […]

Isiah Johnson could......but I think I would be happy if they got Murphy

Love Murphys instincts.

But for how much I like him I like Butler (WR) better..

We also have to consider if the Steelers prefer a zone or a man corner. Zone you go with Murphy if you are going corner early, man then you go with Baker if you are picking a corner early.

Love who they like has some interesting skills as well.......

I would be ok with IJ with the second, third rounder.

I am thinking ILB/S/WR/CB with the first 4 picks. With OLB and TE a possibility if they prefer their value.

I don't know about a corner at 20...Been there, done that....If we do take a corner at 20, I want Greedy....

A DB that doesn't tackle??? Coach must be poisoning you...

Knowing that Murphy has packed on 14 pounds kinda changes my outlook on him. I still like Baker best but I'd be ok with either DB at 1.20...

The only difference is this year we might have the choice of the top cornerback or safety in the draft. Past years,it seems like we take a chance on a guy after 3-5 guys have already been drafted. If the top ILB guys are gone,I really hope they go this route. I would have to look ,but when was the last time in a draft that the top DB never got drafted till 20th? Is it really that ****** of a year for this position?

By the way.....would you guys trade our 2 thirds for a top 2nd? If someone slipped?

Actually Coach has no bearing on my thought process here. Why you gotta give him the credit for how I think?

I've seen the film & kids got some special qualities in coverage....A top rated corner at 20 is cool I guess. But , what about Nelson? Like I said IF WE GO CORNER I am being Greedy...

Dude can fly and has got length

I don't know, I think Murphy is a good player but he has some limitations, he is not that fast and he is not tall, is he worth a 1.20? Probably if talent in another skill position isn't similar but I do think there will be similar or better talent at that spot, and the drop-off at CB isn't that big between him and the 2nd round guys, add that to the Nelson signing and we can wait a bit and still get serious talent to develop behind two solid mentors

To me you have as high a draft pick as you have in the past several years. You also have 3 more picks in the top 3 rounds in a deep draft. You have to get a stud here. No ifs and or buts. You can afford to maybe forgo some need. You have legit starters at every position heading into camp. Go get the biggest impact player you can get. Even if a little wait for being a starter. I want a Watt type Wardaddy. Not some dude who fits a need a little more but has question Marks.
You should be able to plug some holes next offseason with all the salary cap dumped in Bell, AB and very unfortunately Shazier.

you would think, but Burns is a much better man corner than he is zone, I believe that was even listed in his draft prospect file, but we drafted him and Tomlin with all his defensive wisdom still used alot of zone with him.

Murphy has some of the best hands for a DB that I have seen in the last few years, as well.

I agree on Greedy, I'll take a corner that looks like he might be a guy that develops into a guy you can lock onto another teams #1, even if he's not a big tackler. I haven't seen a ton of film, I'm assuming he's not a big tackler when a RB or TE has a full head of steam coming at him, I'm sure if a WR catches a ball in front of him, he tackles him.

That is exactly the way to look at this guy...HE WILL LOCK GUYS DOWN. Isn't anyone else here tired of our short DB's? We lost 4 4th quarter leads because we didn't lock people down and opponents just passed at will and our slow *** timid DB's played it safe and could never get takeaways

ENOUGH....I want ballhawks.......

I looked at Jeramiah's top 20 players. 8 are in positions the Steelers will not draft QB, OL and one running back. That means even if it went by plan and a couple teams don't make a reach at one of those positions you are getting a top 13 pick. Divide that by (edge rusher, ILB, Corner/safety, WR, TE, DL) you should be getting the best or second best player at a position. Keeping that in mind I want a physical specimen. I don't want a smart zone guy who fits my scheme. I want someone to build my scheme around. If I want the smart zone guy I take him in the second OR at bare minimum trade back so he is value and use that to trade up in the second.

Really prefer Burns/Ferrell/Fant in the first and then pick up the CB Mullen in the 2nd round

Listen up because I don't have a lot of time to break it down for you.

Williams might miss a tackle or two. Let's say he misses 3 more tackles and the defense gives up a grand total of 30 yards because of it. However, his yards against over the course of a season will be lower than most ( Let's say 100 yards less given up for the full year vs Joe average corner ) because he offers tight coverage. Which player would you rather have? Do the math. Oh, did I mention he's more likely to produce turnovers?

He's got the speed, the height, and the length and did it as a very young man in the SEC.

In case you missed it our corners suck at producing turnovers and we offer safety help deep too often because none of our corners last year could run and cover the sidelines alone.

Greedy solves lots of problems. I could care less if he misses 2-3 more tackles a year than most corners and the media grills him for it. Look-- Sean Davis is an effing missing tacking machine and few here seem to care.

Murphy is a little slow, a little short has shorter than normal arms and light framed. A bit grabby too. Did I mention he did not start a lot of games and seldom faced top receivers in the Pac-10?

I see Red flags vs. Speed receivers and physical receivers.

More of a #2 corner if you ask me. I do not want him at pick #20. Round two? Sure if he's there.

If Colbert like him, well just look at his track record on picking CB's before celebrating if he's the pick.

So much you have to reply back. I wasn't talking to you anyway. Bermuda seems to know a bit more than you.

I look forward to his reply, and it he wants to talk about missed tackles, he must dislike Sean Davis too :)

If you have something football related posted it here. All you do by saying you don't care is bump my posts/threads. Blah, blah, blah.

Actually I think my posts bother you. I hope Oliver goes to Cincy. He's over rated and I'd get to see him over run twice a year by DeCastro / Pouncey/ Foster. Plus that would be something you do care about :)

what? is his head too big also?

Coach everything you are spitting out I read on draft sites. The only difference is you exaggerate. That was a funny breakdown on Greedy. He will make up for his ****** run D by limiting yards in the pass. That scenerio could easily go the other way as in his run D eclipse his pass defense. In reckognizing his flaw you have given a reason to knock him down a round. I am sure you have watched minimal footage as always.

More BS for the flowerbed. Tell us Dumb *** what were Williams miss tackles to yards given in college? You don’t know and won’t look for it anyway.

You can’t even give the true numbers to feed your trolling of Davis. That’s why no one cares. Because you spew anecdotal BS.

You are too ignorant to realize Williams AVOIDANCE of tackling is the problem with his tape.
