A few words from the Steelers next CB

Nice pimp, agree.

Salute the nation

I like him better than I do Cooch

6'2"
208#
4.4-40
36.5-vertical
133 broad jump
6.81-3-cone
4.06-20 yd shuttle

Those are all pretty impressive but the last two, damn.

obviously Colbert was there to scout Johnson...

Kevin Colbert made plenty of stops in Texas over the last month. We already knew he attended Texas and Texas A&M’s Pro Days. But there was a third stop, perhaps the most surprising one. A reader passed along this video to him, showing Colbert attending this year’s Houston Pro Day. Here’s a screengrab of Colbert at the workout

I hear he is a fan of long Johnsons also....

Coolie, IJ a better prospect than Ike Taylor, when he was drafted?

Looks like it would take him a couple years to groom at least. Which actually fits the timeframe of replacing Joe or Nelson.

that is the thing that would worry me about him in Black & Gold. He has just played the position two years and needs some teaching on technique. The Steelers recent history on coaching up CBs is not exactly stellar.

Or is it they just drafted the wrong guys? Johnson comes across as a guy who knows he is still learning the craft of playing CB so maybe the Steelers coaching staff would have better luck with him. He does have the physical skills to excel at the position.

I'm with Coolie on this one for round three. I also think he'd make a top free safety.

The Steelers have an aging Haden a bunch of guys and a Burns at cornerback. They must address the position if they plan on going anywhere in the postseason.

Give me Greedy and Isaiah.

Guy is fast, but I think Ike was more of a blazer. I think he is more of a developmental type. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Round 3 might be a little high for him.

I think more of a 4 /5 round guy.

So from that standpoint there is Ike similarities. Developmental ,speedy, good size prospect.

You liked what Walter football had to say about him huh?

Being a PSU guy, for the time being I'm gonna say it is the talent given. Or the heads given. Burns has a 10 cent head. I think Bradley is a heck of a coach, or at least he seemed that when he was at PSU. We'll see, I guess.

I wouldn't give up on burns yet with a more pass happy league now I see us running more dime and if they keep using 3-2-6 you got to fit him in there or let him Marcus Allen Brian Allen and the rookies compete for the last dime spot.
I would prefer a dime of 4-1-6

if he didn't have such good size, speed and that 20 yard shuttle time, I would think just on current skill level he would fall to at least the 4th round. His elite measureables will have him taken sooner. That is why I'm guessing the 3rd round.

So Nelson is just a guy according to you

He's not a #1 CB. In that sense he's just a guy. When Haden ages, this unit is in some trouble unless it adds better talent.

Do you think Nelson is on par with Haden?

I think he is a solid #2 with upside. Your post clearly states that we have Haden and no one else so we need another CB to go long in the playoffs? Is a rookie playing ahead of Nelson This season? why are you backpedaling?
