For those interested in NFL Scouting (Draft Day added)

You might have had Darius Leonard if I were in control. You would also have Reid. Oh well

I guess the Colts scouts knew. The Steelers did not.

Very interesting behind the scenes look. I mean everyone has opinions. And because at the end of the day it is a guessing game, the average person can be right and the expert wrong. However, for the most part the armchair relies upon the data collected by the professional scout. The hours and hours poured over by the scout mean something. As the GM said. They are paid for their opinion.

I honestly think that you can't see the chyt you post before or AFTER you type it on the screen...

The truth hurts, huh? Check the archives.

********? I will be pissing on you after the draft. Ed isn't going in the top ten you fool.

I will enjoy your vacation, you really are a tool.

After the draft, you might have a month off. Superman can come to your emotional rescue.

Yeah talk big genius. But you still haven’t replied to my offer in taking your bet as to when White will go. You just run from your own BS as usual.

I think one of the things people don't realize enough is that about 1/2 of all the prospects will be eliminated by a team before the draft happens. That's why you often see players that layman and the draft gurus think are reaches happen so often.

The draftnik community, by its nature, ranks ALL the prospects so our top-100 has everyone based on talent/tape alone. But teams routinely eliminate players off their boards for scheme fit, personal issues or off-field problems. Even just giving a bad vibe over the years a guy is scouted by the area scouts can just totally eliminate a guy off a team's board.

And then you factor in need, which is more of a factor than teams like to admit in the salary cap era, and you see the variety in boards between teams and prospects. It just kind of is what it is.

very true, which is why I've said it only takes one team to fall in love with a kid for him to go high in the draft.

quoting this until Cooch responds

Quoting what? I did not like the Burns pick, broke his play down on film, and pointed out his weakness. Many cried foul here if you remember : ) That was my call. Burns may have played well for a stretch where I said something positive about him, but that feels like ancient history. My call on him on draft day is what I stand and I'm correct. We would have been sooooo much better of with Howard, and even you have to understand that.

So I called a bad pick, said who I would have preferred who was proven to be much better, and hindsight says I'm correct. Try to keep a better scorecard.

1/2?

While I like the theme of the post, I think you would have been better off saying 1/5 the of the prospects will be off a teams board before a draft starts. If half the prospects were red flagged and taken off a board, we'd see a lot of trades, I think.
