Steelers cornerback Mike Hilton is an exclusive rights free agent. That gives the Steelers the right to offer him a tender, which they have, and his only option is to sign it or sit out. OverTheCap.com explains the definition of a ERFA: These are the players with 2 or less seasons in the league, a […]

I think he has earned a 2 year deal worth 6 or 7 million. Half guarenteed. I will tell you he is a pretty damn good corner. In my opinion he should have gotten a shot to start over Sensebaugh.

The Steelers play this contract game very smart. They are forced too with the dead cap money. Hilton has been solid for us. Not sure I'd go breaking the bank for him though.

Keep playing Mike, you'll get your deal. Be mature and you'll be rewarded. Don't go the Bell/Brown route of trying to get more money.

Didn't Hilton spend time conditioning with Mr. Big Chest this off season ?

He would be an RFA next season right? That would cost about 2M I think, so offer him 2 seasons @ 2,5M each , which would be an improvement of twice what he would earn getting the ERFA and the RFA. 2M guaranteed

I'd hope they offer 4 years and 12 million or so, something to that effect. He's probably guaranteed to get a 2nd round tender next year(3m) and will get less than a million this year. He gets some overall security in the deal and we get a discount on two of his free agency years.

Sign him as he is a bright spot. I just hope none of the #ABshit has rubbed off onto him. The STEELERS know how to handle this and if he shows anything like #shit4brains in acting out, CUT him right on the spot and make sure you are very public about how and why.

Salute the nation

one of the few bright spots on D the past couple seasons, he deserves it, **** how would you feel seeing Dupree getting 9 million?

It makes no sense to offer 2 year deal, since they have him 2 years anyway. If he gets a deal it should be for 3to 4 yrs.

Thes players have watched to many reruns of Bell and Brown circus. Hilton is neither one of these players grow up show you can play you will get a contract equal to how you play.

Didn't Hilton have an up and down year this past year? I believe he was replaced as the No. 3 CB at some point during the season. He still needs to keep proving himself but I would offer him some type of contract.

I like these numbers. Hilton is a good slot corner, but make no mistake he would be eaten alive on the outside. Hilton is feisty and tackles above his weight class but he’s just too short and slow to be effective as a stating cornerback.

Hilton was eaten alive in the slot in the back half of last year as well and was basically demoted. I am not sure where he thinks he has any leverage. If the Steelers offer him a deal, he should probably take it.

Sutton took some of his reps. I think Steelers are looking at some slot possibilities in the draft, would be no shocker if they don't extend him. NOt that I don't like the kid I do. Just not the long term answer. But you have to like try hards...

No doubt. I am a Hilton fan as he came from no where and helped our secondary. I guess opposing teams realized how small he was and he started getting picked on last year. My guess is he is working on correcting that. I hope he stays on the team but they certainly aren't going to pay him like a top CB. They'll offer him something fair like they always do, unless of course, they decide they don't want him back.
