So Beckham warrents a 1st, 3rd, and a player

There is NOTHING in the CBA that allows a team to “keep suspending a player”, the CBA says a team can suspend a player for up to 4 games for conduct detrimental to the team. Brown coming back to the Steelers was NEVER going to happen. Not in a million years after what was said and done. If the Steelers had any leverage the Buffalo deal would not have been killed by AB. TO did the same ****, how many times has that been repeated since then? Most guys are not total ********.

PER OFFENSE! If after four games he refuses to show or is disruptive, that’s a seperate offense, and yes, he can be suspended, without pay, again. This isn’t that difficult. I agree it’s not ideal, but it’s better than caving. I agree most guys aren’t ********, but we’ve caved too many times recently ( Brown, Harrison, Blount, etc) Players know theycan force their way by throwing temper tantrums

It is not per offense, the CBA states you can suspend a player for up to 4 games, not per occurrence. The per offense is not written in the CBA anywhere. When Rooney announced the need to trade AB his value dropped as time was in every teams favor.

Look at it this way. We spent a single 6th round pick on the kid outta nowhere.
Now, we trade the old hag for TWO picks! A 3rd rounder (twice as early as where we drafted him) and a bonus 5th (an entire round earlier than the exalted one).
I like our odds

Our FO just got punked by the the Browns The ******* Browns

Bullshit! Brown is twice the player OBJ is! OBJ is the most overrated player in the league. Makes AMAZING catches, but disappears for games at a time. And he doesn’t hurt his team? You’ve got to be kidding me!!! We got ******* played like chumps.
The Bills were going to give us their #9 and their 2nd round pick for AB and our #20. Then AB acted like an *** and killed it.
There were 4 other teams interested at the time too and when he pulled his **** every other team but the Raiders backed out

No, the GIANTS showed them how to negotiate a trade

That's how a professional organization goes about business and gets fairly compensated, not running around like chickens with their heads cut off, blabbing every move to the media.

I think the browns got hosed.

I stand corrected. ****.

Only 177 more days until the start of the season.....Wake me up then and I'll make some chili

Lol OBJ was a model citizen compared to what just happened with AB. Had AB went behind closed doors and demanded a trade this is the type of compensation we would've got.. but he didn't. No one even wanted the ******** for a 3rd and 5th besides 1 team. You morons realize this right?

If AB wouldn't have stomped his feet and said I'm taking my ball and going home if I'm traded to Buffalo, we'd have the #9 overall pick and be guaranteed one of the top 2 ILBs right now. We still had decent interest until that, then every team but Oakland backed out.

OBJ has better hair so he's got that going for him. Question is will Mr Big Checks who is crazy and prone to do irrational things, see this as an insult to his trade value? Maybe quit on the team or demand a different deal?

Apparently not, I didn’t think it was that hard to comprehend.

You yourself have said many times there's no way Brown was going to play for the Steelers. So, let's agree that's true. If the Steelers would've played hard ball, and not taken peanuts, then what? He would sit out, correct? So if he sits out the year, then we're not on the hook for the $21 million that's now eating up our cap. It's pretty clear to me that $21 million in cap space and maintaining organizational control is worth a helluva lot more than a 3rd and 5th rounder. Brown's only other option at that point is to come in and play, which again, would be worth more than a 3rd and a 5th. As much as pain in the *** that the Bell situation has been, it's more preferable than having him tie up that much cap space for nothing. In your own words, it's not that hard to comprehend. And I'll say it again, you can say "Steelers had no other choice" a million times, it doesn't change the fact that it's simply not true. Bottom lined, we got bullied and pushed around by Brown and the Raiders, and now the entire league sees us as weak.

And for the record, Cleveland WAY OVERPAID for OBJ, and I don't think we could've gotten anywhere near that for Brown. I have a feeling he's going to blow up and Cleveland will regret this. Are you guys really trying to make the case that OBJ is NOT a headcase? Have you seen him during his career? I mean, come on...........

OBJ is a great WR but he absolutely takes plays off and disappears on his own in games because he is pouting. He's done that his entire career. That's why I would never put him in the same conversation with AB over the past few years. OBJ has the talent but he is a terrible teammate and a headcase. And, even going on 31, AB should have and would have garnered more if he wouldn't have screwed us over with his antics. Heck, Buffalo was going to give us a heck of a lot more. All of this should have been done behind closed doors and AB shouldn't have had any say so with it. Make the trade and then tell him. He can work on more pay after the fact. The Steelers ****** that up about as bad as it could be ****** up.

For the 100th time, the Steelers had NO leverage for a better deal.

The raiders package sucked, but it wasn't going away, someone else would have at least given us those **** draft picks a month from now, eat the 2.7 million bonus and hold on to him for a few more weeks, call the raiders bluff...nope we panicked and got ROYALLY fleeced, the OBJ deal proves it. Both are loose cannons, but AB is way more consistent than Beckam game to game, and will easily be as good as Beckam for the next 3 years

The 21 million would apply regardless of what happened. AB sitting out, retiring or being traded doesn’t stop the 21 mil from applying to the cap. The only way it could be reduced is if Brown returned some of the bonus money he received.

For good or bad, Browns are turning into a fun, young franchise to watch with their talent. If Baker Mayfield can hold it all together and keep his ego (and those around him) in check, it might work.

I was very impressed with Jarvis Landry watching Hard Knocks and with how he played during the season. Beckham was his college roommate and best friend at LSU. I think the combination of Landry's work ethic and Mayfield's leadership (which looks for real) could really make Beckham a top-5 receiver in this league and eliminate the headaches. That's bad for the Steelers obviously, but I'm at a point where I want the wheels to completely fall off around here so we can lose Tomlin and Colbert ASAP. I don't think there's anything left to the Roethlisberger - Tomlin - Colbert group. Best to get away from it one year too soon than one year too late. Roethlisberger deserves to ride out into the sunset as a Steeler and decide when he wants to go. The other two can suck my balls.

Agreed, but I have a feeling Buffalo talked to ABs agent, and I would've too, I wouldn't have wanted to make that trade and find out AB is going to no show me

I think both points of view are valid here

OBJ is a much better option than AB right now.. less of a headache, younger, not looking for a new deal, close enough in talent, not destroying his own trade value every time he opens his mouth..

But it is disappointing that we didn’t get more for the best WR in team history and top 5 WR of all time

Giants management said they weren't interested in trading OBJ and worked behind the scenes to make the trade, with no player or agent involvement.
Steelers pretty much announced they had to get rid of AB, limited the teams we would trade him to and let AB and the agent narrow the field further.
Browns likely would have given us a similar hall for AB.

Not so fast.
There's rumblings Odell is looking for a contract tweak, akin to the one Brown got.

any chance at all the Steelers pull the plug? We have to be able to get more out of AB than a 3rd and 5th. I know it would be a distraction
