Steelers sign CB Steven Nelson formerly of the Chiefs.

He was solid defending passes coming off of pressure, something we badly need to improve on. Looks like a nice fit.

1st......welcome to the Steelers Steven Nelson!
2nd.....we do have a HC who is a specialist in the defensive secondary. He will coach him up.
3rd....... our specialist HC,has no luck drafting in the secondary......so a free agent is the way to go.
4th.....breaking news....the browns just traded for Odell. You will be earning that contract !

is #2 sarcastic?????? everything else I agree with.

Maybe they can trade Artie for something. A 5th or 6th maybe? Nah! GMs aren’t that stupid!

Bermuda approves of this statement.

I'm happy they signed the kid - ESPECIALLY with the OBJ trade to the Browns - we're gonna need a dope secondary to handle them now...

I read KC moved him to outside last season and he flourished. His weakness is slot. We already have a good slot CB in Hilton (or even Sutton) and a solid guy in Haden on the other side. Seems like it's going to be a great fit.

It was a day one deal. They made a move to fill a big problem spot. I think if healthy, Haden will be fine. He was very good last year in my opinion. If this guy is a legitimate number two corner it will improve. You can strike corner off for round one and keep it to linebacker or Wr. It's a start. I'm happy with the move.

I think that is the plan, other side from Haden and this definately improves us.

Finally Colbert did what he had to do, secure a starting CB early in free agency. I almost jizzed my pants when I read the thread title.

Now it's time to test the LB/WR market because Safety prices went nuts

Was gonna say, maybe Tombert finally realized they can't draft DB's and their best move is to sign players drafted by someone else.

Their track record of drafting DB's in recent memory certainly hasn't been stellar that's for sure. Sean Davis is probably the best they've drafted in quite some time and even he would probably be best characterized as slightly above average. Jury is still out on Edmunds but he shows promise.

This is definitely a good move, not a great move, but definitely a good move. We now have our starting CB's set and Burns can now try to compete. We can also now focus on our No. 1 need (even before this signing) at ILB in the 1st round of the draft. Hopefully, we can get Devin Bush. Those 2 moves will instantly make our D better as I see Devin probably starting from game 1.

I agree, may have to move up a few spots to get him. That is an absolute must, we can not have Williams and Bostic again

My initial reaction is this seems like signing Farrior back in 2002.
And I'm hoping it turns out the same way.

Not the big name headline making signing like Bell or Mosley.
But I think Nelson brings stability and a hard work ethic to a position of GREAT need to us.

Now about our safety and inside linebacker positions............................................

I know highlights are just that but he does seem aggressive and we don't have to worry about his singing career interfering with his game.

He seems to have good control of his hands. When it looks like a receiver may have a catch,he punches in and makes it incomplete. Nice control of body to go with that. Like said, maybe not the greatest but definitely a big upgrade to what we have been seeing.
