No idiotic “sit on their *** and do nothing” comments from the peanut gallery, please. We all know that’s the likely scenario but I’d like this thread to be optimistic.

Just looking for opinions on what position we will actually address in free agency and with whom. I think Golden Tate would be a great addition to our receiving core and Kareem Jackson would be a great 1-2 year option until our rookie CB gets up to speed. Also; would like to see AP in a Steeler uniform as a third back option. Wish we had the money for Mosley as that would make our D immediately substantially better but we aren’t anywhere near that unfortunately...

We never make moves early in free agency.. not to be pessimistic but we wait for the garbage to settle then we dive in to see what we can find. I’d look for maybe Friday or the weekend until any moves are done, need to take a good hard look at the garbage heap.

Likely scenario yep. Just hoping they realize that would be a bigger mistake this year...

Well for starters,........................the STEELERS decide to not sign #shit4brains trade agreement until the last possible moment, I mean the final wire of time just barely to make it happen. Give the azZhole a little something to think about.

Salute the nation

I'd like to be optimistic, but they won't. They'll sit tight and then do something later on. They need to add a starter at WR, ILB, or CB and I think WR provides the most options. I'd also like to see them pickup a No. 2 TE.

Steelers will not sign Tate, his projected salary is 10M per year. That will not happen.

Word is we're targeting Bradley Robey.

They will probably do nothing, no way they can compete with teams like Indy that have $100 million in cap space. Can't live in fantasy land and post what we know isn't happening.

Cornerback first and foremost, there's a good crop of FA talent that won't demand elite money , one can be ours if the FO moves quickly.

Then inquire about perriman and brown to get a stretch the field WR, only if either can be signed for under 5M I'd go for it

Also a vet RB would be nice to add to the mix too. Finally test the D market and see if cutting Burnett you can get someone else who actually wants to be here and is willing to play close to the LoS like a Rover safety should

They'll sign some 2 bit CB and WR that won't amount to **** other than taking up a roster spot.

rumors are they are intersted in Roby, CB, DEN. I also hear about 5 other teams are kicking those same tires.

that said, I don't expect the Steelers to do anything the first week of FA. Not pessimism but just the reality of what they do.

Don't know what the Steelers will do but I've been saying it and will continue to say it... John Brown and the best available Corner that we can afford.

You can call it peanut gallery if you want, but that's exactly what we're gonna do, sit on our *** and do nothing. I still LOVE this team, but the management, from coach to GM all the way to owner freaking sucks *** right now.

Don’t expect a big splash the first week of F/A because that’s not what we do. They will wait until the first week frenzy of signings occur and then when things calm down s bit they will call their guys in. Don’t worry, not all the good F/A’s will be taken in in the first wave. I suspect they will try and sign a CB,WR,and ILB’er. Tier II type guys, maybe a tier I player as well. Depends how much they have to spend.

They’re not as ****** up as we’re all thinking they are. I mean who amoung us would have thought six months ago we would be getting rid of Brown? This had to have totally shocked the team with how things worked out with Brown. They never thought they had a problem. After all, he was only into his second year of a lucrative extension and the team didn’t anticipate any issues there. What he pulled just pulled the rug from under the organization and they just wanted the headache to go away.

They did screw up the Bell situation though but in their minds they had offered him s great contract and it was but Bell wanted more guaranteed money and we only do that for one guy, Ben.

Colbert needs to hit home runs in the draft and make a few good signings in F/A and we’ll be fine.
And **** nuts Tomlin needs to take control of his team for starters and then learn to manage the clock, make better decisions and keep the team focused on the next opponent.

We will be signing Ben to an extension which will free up some $.. I think we make a relatively big acquisition in free agency this year.. don’t forget we tried to sign Donte Hightower to a big contract a couple years back, but obviously he wanted to stay in N.E. With all the negative stuff we’ve had going on with moron #1 and moron #2 the front office is going to try and make a splash to get everyone excited about the direction we’re heading in. We didnt get the haul we wanted for Brown so we don’t have the draft capital to address every position sufficiently so we pretty much have to get someone in free agency

fwiw, OTC has us at 16.4

they show AB dead money so I assume it is up to date. Of course, Ben extension is probably in the works so that will suck up about all of that.

I would hope it would do the opposite and increase cap space this year? Isn't the point of "extending" a contract to convert base salary, which counts against this years cap, into signing bonus, decreasing this years base salary against the cap and spreading the bonus over the life of the new/extended contract???

It's literally why they are eating a 22mil cap hit on Brown now... because all his remaining signing bonus cap hit applies to '19, instead of being spread out over what would have been remaining 3 years if not for trading him.

Ben's extension will likely lower his cap hit this year. He will probably get guarenteed money. A big check to cover this season but lower salary. It will escalate when dick wad is off the books next year. Surprised they didn't get Ben's contract done to free up the room.

So far nothing at all linked to us. All these handshake agreements going on and Colbert has his hand elsewhere.

We never do ****

Steelers will do the usual, sit tight, allow all the top name free agents to be signed, then sign a few second or third tier guys for depth so that on paper, they have no "holes" that they must address in the draft.
