RD1- Greedy Williams CB LSU
Joe Haden is in the last year of his contract and Artie Burns hasn’t really panned out. This gives the Steelers a legitimate guy across from Haden and Insurance if we can’t resign him next year.
(Devin Bush is a strong possibility here. If we go Bush here I’ll change a pick down the road to show the difference)
RD2- Malcolm Butler WR Iowa St
6-5 230lbs with banana hands and a sub 4.5 forty. Should have a good shot at being the X receiver.
RD3a- Zach Allen DL Boston College
Watching Allen reminds me a lot of a poor mans JJ Watt. High motor effort with long arms which he uses to bull rush or set the edge and play the run. Really not flashy but gets the job done.
RD3b- Bobby Okereke LB Stanford
Not going to get mistaken for Shazier but I see the ability to cover and he’s definitely shoot the gap and side to side backer.
(If we go Bush RD1 I go Justin Layne or Isaiah Johnson here)
RD4- Darius Slayton WR Auburn
One of my favorite sleepers in this draft. I know I just went WR but with Brown traded and Hunter, Rogers and DHB free agents the Steelers literally have JuJu, Washington and Switzer on contract. I believe we resign Rogers but still have a few holes to fill. Slayton is sneaky fast, runs better routes than I expected and is a natural hand catcher. Route tree is not great but the ability is definitely there.
RD5- Maxx Crosby OLB Eastern Michigan
Dupree is in the final year of his contract and has never lived up to hype. Crosby has a ton of stats and checks all the boxes athletically but the level of competition is the question mark.
RD6a- Mitch Wishnowsky P Utah
Steelers didn’t render Berry so this is definitely a need. Get the best punter in the draft.
RD6b- Matt Gay K Utah
I’d honestly take both the Utah special teams players. Boz really needs competition this year and I would hope this either gets him kicking better or we get a replacement.
RD7- Sean Bunting CB Central Michigan
One of my favorite small school prospects. Very aggressive CB with loose hips, quick twitch and good hands.
