He lead the country with 176 total tackles (ranking third with 94 solos) and also posting 5.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, two interceptions, six pass breakups, three fumble recoveries, and four forced fumbles. Sound good so far? Okay he did it in the Pac 12, but that's still amazing production!

He just ran a 4.56 40 ( Saftey speed ) and impressive 4.09 20 yard shuttle. ( good for top corners ) at the combine.

Who is this guy? Ben Burr -Kirven. Will watch his clips later. Sounds interesting.

if he's there on day two, i take NC State's Germaine Pratt and I don't think twice about doing so

Pratt had season ending shoulder surgery in 2016, and hurt his ankle at the end of 2018, which was his lone season as the staring ILB. Why did it take so long for him to become a starter? He's a little raw, but I like him.

The combine showed good straight line speed, but he did not preform cone or the shuttle drills, so chase of direction could be hole in his game. We'll see.

based on what i saw of his film, i think he's the real deal. i honestly don't put too much stock in 3-cone, or shuttles, etc etc.

I put some stock in those drills. Not that I dislike Pratt, he was in my mock draft in that new game. I wonder why it took Pratt so long to start. Could be mediocre reads and instinct?

Our ILB's are terrible. I'm not sure why the Steelers even gave Vince Williams a new deal. It made zero sense, and he was replaced by Fort.

Bostic had a limited role later in the season, as I suspected he can't cover. well. A player like White or Bush would start as a rookie. Or we can go ILB in rounds 2-4 and still find an eventually starter.

Shuttles are good for your O-linemen, 3 cone WRs,.SS DT/:LB burst, etc.

High scores can help you backup what your eyes see on game tapes. If they fail it won't be because the lack of athleticism. Low scores can alert you to deficiencies that can show themselves on the field if they aren't doing that already.

Some drills are obviously more useful than others but they do show many of things. Strength, burst, short area speed, long speed...

I think it is ok to put stock in it to adjust your game tape rankings. Especially extremely low scores. You really need to think twice about throwing high money at a borderline athlete.

And to flip it you really like someone and his testing is off the charts. You know you have quite the athlete to pair with impressive game tape.

Combine does serve a purpose, it just shouldn't be used as a reason to reach.

agreed. they aren't good at all, and VW is at the top of that list. makes me sick that they re-signed him.

Since 2010, over 300 OL prospects completed a 20-yard shuttle at the NFL Combine.

19 of the 22 top times were drafted. Those 19 OL went on to start 85% of their NFL games, on average.

The NFL Combine & athletic testing matters. Let me show you why...

I really wish you would KNOW what the heck you're talking about BEFORE you type it...

Fort replaced Bostic NOT Williams.

First of all, the kid is "too short" to be an effective NFL ILB. And the 'speed' you're referring too is barely better than Dirty Red, who, too, is a tackling machine - but too short and slow for the ILB role.

Put your faith in the FO and believe that they're really looking to improve both ILB and CB this year. Rest assured, if Devin Bush is there at 1.20 - he's probably the pick. If they wait until the second round, keep your eyes open for Mack Wilson or Tre Lamar (I think Lamar is a reach but his Pro Day will tell the tale)...

So he's too short you say? I guess you really don't like Devin Bush then, as he's even shorter. Just to clarify, do you think Devin Bush to use your words is "too short" to be an effective NFL ILB?

The front office should have addressed CB and ILB last year. Why have faith they will do it this year? Not one LB, or CB was drafted last year! Go figure, we could have had Leonard.

The Steelers were fools to give Williams that money. Don't you agree? Okay, so Fort replaced Bostic and not Williams. Both Williams and Bostic are square peg's in a modern NFL that requires round circles to run, and cover. I felt Bostic was a not a good pick up. And he wasn't.

Bush is WAAAY better than your guy. Period the end.

Please explain. To use your words is a guy 6 foot is too short to be "too short" to be an effective NFL ILB" how does it apply to Bush who is 5'11" tall?

You're completely painted into a corner. Just admit the mistake and move on.

Ok to clarify, what are you saying here?

That Burr-Kirven will be better than Bush. Just need clarification.

Gary Johnson ILB from Texas in Round 3 or 4 would be a steal! If he keeps performing like he did at the combine he could become a late first round pick or early 2nd Round.

The clarification is Bermuda " thinks " players under 6 feet tall can't be an effective NFL ILB. He said it. How he corrects himself is up to him.

Zack Thomas was a fantastic ILB, and he was well under 6 feet tall.

I know personally i do not run drills well or even run on a track well, but the same people who would toast me in a track race couldn't get by me on a football field. Obviously i am not an elite athlete, but i would imagine it's the same. Some play way faster than their drills and some play slower. If i like a player and he is running by guys on the field, but posts a 5.0 40 time i still wouldn't hesitate to take him

You dim witted ditz.
Bush is far better in other facets to offset his height. Even if he’s shorter than your new love.

I never said he ( Bush ) wasn't and you know that. Yes, I expect Bush to be a better NFL player too. Re-read that twice.

If you have to make things up to prove your point, you are truly a small minded person.

Now all that remains id for Bermuda to be honest and retract his statement that players 6 feet and under can't play ILB in the NFL well. Bush is under 6 feet, Bermuduh. Do you think he'll be a bust because to that or not? Speak up!

I made no official prediction on Burr-Kirven, rather I mentioned he has amazing stats and worked out well, thinking he could be a good day 2 or 3 players to talk about. That's it.
