D.K. Metcalf...too much size?

There is no way i would spend a top 10 pick on Metcalf. He can be a very effective player in the right system just like Martavis or Mike Wallace were productive when used correctly. I'm not spending a top pick on a WR that can't do everything.

Besides, do you really need big time WRs anymore? Pats seem to have no problem passing with mediocre talents that just run good routes. Since they changed the rules, it's become much easier to be effective as a WR.

Randy Moss didn't do everything either, but what he did do he was great at. A team like Buffalo who needs a receiver could take Metcalf. The guy worked out like superman, and has some did you see that moment on tape on a bad team in the SEC.

The Pats have a system with Tom Brady. Take Brady away, and they are meat.

In a thread about Metcalf, yeah, you're not a troll.

Nah, this thread has its share of smarts comments. So I gave mine. I'll try not to get a " big head " about Metcalf.

What a horrible comparison, but you are right Moss didn't do everything, he in fact didn't do anything He missed the combine because he had some teeth pulled.

I'm not a draft guru, but who would be a good comparison for Metcalf? Poor man's Calvin Johnson?

I wouldn't take him either

Just curious, you wouldn't take him where you think he's slated to go (top 10) or you just wouldn't take him?

I'm not sure I'd take him at our 1st round pick, ILB is a bigger need so it would depend on who is there. I think there are more very good WRs than there are very good LBs in this draft.

I wouldn't take him top 10, neither in the 1st round If I were the Steelers, there must be another position of need with similar talent available, CB, OLB, ILB.

A bigger Mike Wallace.

Really? Admittedly, I don't know much about this guy (you and others probably know a lot more) but have heard his enormous catch radius, ability to high-point the football and box out defenders is excellent. Also heard he's great at breaking jams at the line. None of these were strong suits of Mike Wallace. I think LB and CB are bigger needs as well so I'm not advocating taking this guy, I'm just wondering if his insane combine numbers are leading people to take that contrarian view that it's just the underwear Olympics, or if it's just confirmation this guy really is that good.

Not putting words in Slash's mouth, but I think he might be alluding to MW being a "one-trick pony" as Tomlin used to say...limited route tree...with tons of speed.

Ah, gotcha Slashman.

you think metcalf is as good as Moss?

Moss was more than just straight line speed.
