I like the more vocal Colbert. He's right. Too bad he can't hire and fire the head coach.

But yesterday, General Manager Kevin Colbert acknowledged that it was the Steelers’ own inexperience that played a role in the relationship between Brown and Bell with the team going south, to the point at which it seems that a divorce is rather imminent with the pair of first-team All-Pro talents.

“We want players to grow into great players, Pro Bowlers, potential Hall of Famers”, he said while speaking at the NFL Scouting Combine yesterday in Indianapolis. “But I think what we’re learning, and it’s a different world. I mean look what we’re doing here [at the Combine]. 30 years ago, this didn’t happen. So it’s a different world. Social media has changed things. Branding as changed things”.

Inexperience? Who the **** is inexperienced in this org? We've got one of the longest tenured coaches in the NFL and one of the most stable orgs. in the business. Every team has had to deal with the changes he mentioned. This is not inexperience, it's incompetence.

He was meaning how social media has impacted players and dealing with that......

No no. Tomlin wants to EMBRACE the evolving young player! Cause that's working really really well.

Getting rid of Tomlin would solve a lot of problems. Having a weak , stupid head coach who is more a friend than an authority figure sets the culture in the locker room. He is not and never will be a leader more of a fan boy.

Colbert, historically speaking has been a quiet behind the scenes type. Now he's being vocal, taking a leadership role to speak with the media. I view this a positive.

The Steelers have not extended Tomlin. He should be coaching for his job next season. Much like the Kordell Stewart debacle, I'm thinking most fans will agree we should have moved on sooner once he's finally gone.

Colbert might also be trying to save his job or be auditioning for a new gig in case his contract is not extended.

Since there was not an extension made for Tomlin which usually happens with 2 years remaining, I'd say he better hope he has one hell of a season next year.

I see this organization taking a lot of behind the scene steps and both Colbert / Tomlin had both be a little worried. As for players..... I think the STEELERS know exactly who and how they want to keep.

I don't have a problem with Colbert. He does his job well. He listens to the coach and finds the type of players the coach wants. That's all you can ask of him IMHO. You can see the shift in defensive drafting philosophy when Tomlin took over. No more tree stump NGs.

Fixed it for you.

Colbert's draft of Watt, Ju-Ju, and Conner was impressive. Part of the Steelers problem is player discipline, and he's taking control of that right now.

I wish the Steelers would do a better job of drafting DB's and passing on expensive veterans in free agency who just can't play anymore, but overall Colbert has been solid with the draft.

We'll see if Colbert can find a 3 down inside linebacker, a speed receiver, a corner and a safety who can play in the 2019 draft.

Or a day one FA to fill a hole....

Colbert should go back to being a quiet background guy. Not impressive.

Again, this speaks to the ineptitude of Tomlin. HE (Tomlin) should be doing the damage control for the damage he caused. Tomlin should be putting out this fire, not Colbert. Tomlin should have been at that meeting with Art, Khan, Colbert, AB, Drew Rosenhouse, and AB's daddy. But he was AWOL. He showed up and took a pic with Conner at the Dapper Dan thing, so he's around, just not involved. His silence, while KC speaks, is deafening.

Agree with most of his comments..

But question the need or desire to use the "media" platform to communicate it?..,..

CBA doesn’t allow a coach to participate in team interactions in the offseason in regards to player/agent situations unless the coach is the GM as well.

Also Dapper Dan Charity Banquet is not a NFL or Steeler function it is a City of Pittsburgh function. Pens and Pirates or schools are recognized as well.

Tomlin will be a new type coach come season time. You can count on the fact he got his Azz reamed out when all this **** surfaced. Will he be fixed perfect..........NO but you will see better discipline / team unity. Part of his coaching style will change but we will get some of the same O’l same O’l as in the past. We’re all talking about players stepping up well I’m for one want CMVLT to take a step upwards and perform a better job this coming season. Last year a lot caught up with him and let’s hope he does learn and progresses up ward. The Azz chewing and non-extension probably put a motivation under his Azz as well.

This front office needs to recognize that the Steelers are going the way of the Pirates post 1992. "The Steeler Way" has become not just a faded memory, but an open joke. When the fans become less than fanatical about our team, because we are ******* embarrassed by them, and the mystique of this awesome franchise is worn away by the consistent incompetence of the head coach, this becomes just another small market team.

Tomlin will be coaching for his job next season. We shall see if this means more mistakes, or he's wise enough to delegate his weaker areas to others. Tomlin refused a " time outs " coach.

By empowering Ben, and getting rid of players Tomlin can not control, the Steelers should be better off. Colbert has given Ben the green light to say what is needed on his radio show...accountability for all, including Tomlin.

I predict 8-8 and the defense will be worse than it was this past season. I've said before that Shades doesn't deserve an extension unless or until he gets to the Super Bowl. No SB and you let his contract expire and he can walk.

Ownership needs to tell Shades to sit down and STFU at draft time and let Colbert draft who he wants. The Tombert approach got us where we are now.

I'm still waiting for these big changes. So far all we have heard is Brown's mouth. Tomlin has said zero about anything, only Colbert who seems to be trying the best he can to stop the BS from Brown's tweet. Now we here Brown blames on play in Denver. He has blamed everyone now one play. Tomlin has not coached well when things are going well now with all this circus with Brown, no way this team goes 8-8. We still are stroking Burns , the defense could not hold leads late, Ben will be scrutinized on every play. This will not turn out well.

IMHO..

The Steeler brass needs to just STFU about Bell and Brown and take care of business with these 2,,,,,, and move on to focusing on how to improve post Bell/Brown...

Ive heard enough from Rooney, Colbert, et all...about these 2 former Steelers....

The Steeler organization does not have to "justify" themselves to anyone.

Absolutely, though I'd love to get their honest opinion on Brown. IMO, the more the guy opens his mouth the worse he looks.
