This is so forced it's becoming ridiculous. I'm thinking soon it'll just be that the minority be given the job no matter what.
 
What galls me is that there has to be another minority candidate out there that's better than Tomlin. If you going to commit yourself to a minority candidate, at least get one that can coach.

What's being forced? There are only 4 minority coaches, and didn't six just get fired? Quit crying just to be crying.
 
This rule sucks. An organization at the end of the day is going to hire whomever they wish. As of 2019, I can't think of one of the 32 teams that have not had a minority coach at the coordinator level on offense or defense.


I hope some coach with minority DNA that is labeled as " white " but claims he's really a part minority and identifies as such take this BS rule to court. If you really want to be technical, women who now serve as assistant trainers, assistant coaches, and referees can complain they need to be part of the process too.


The NFL will then quickly drop the Rooney Rule as they don't like to go to court let alone lose a case in it.

Yes you are accusing people of racism based on the color of the coaches they hired, *******. But you're not a racist, because it's your rule, and you have a black coach, right? Yeah the black players are happy as clams on that dysfunctional **** show. Typical limousine liberal. Rooney will suggest quotas.

Not any more. Welcome to the future of the NFL. I think the owners and league should put their money where their mouth is... all white owners (including Rooney) should sell their teams to minority groups. All coaches (not just HC but all coaches) should be minorities. Godofall should step down and a minority take over. When you get rid of whitey all racism ends. All will be happy.
 
What percentage is acceptable? It is seeming like a race hustle. It needs to go away.
 
I think the Rooney rule was started for the right reasons. To get more minorities into the coaching pipeline. Seemed the same old retreaded coaches were getting hired and fired from all the teams. Unfortunately the rule hasn't worked the way it was meant to. When race is brought into the equation seems some people put blinders on and other scream racism. Just might be somewhere in between.

Nothing worse in the world then 2nd & 3rd generation wealth imposing their morality on others. I have no idea why old money have to go ultra left...........its so annoying. Once you have affirmative action you create racism. By saying a black man is not capable of getting that job or getting that interview on his own says he is inferior. The rule itself is racist. Furthermore the rule creates racism in the minds of many who looks at a black coach from afar and say "oh well he got the job because of the Rooney rule". Many will always look at a black coach because of this rule with skepticism about whether he was the most qualified. Best long term solution to racism is for black men and women to bust their ***** and work their way up the food chain as quickly as possible integrating themselves into the higher food chain and as unfair as liberals see this blacks too can only rise once they feel like they are equals as opposed to victims or needing assistance. So it's hard to get an interview? Boo ******* hoo .....go tell me how life is supposed to be easy. The more Rooney Rules or Colin Kapernicks or Black Life's Matter movements the more pissed off and divided our country gets. This **** doesn't unify and integrate.....it makes it worse and we become more racist. Honestly, I'm pissed off over black America and I never used to be......I could care less about your plight now .....stop doing drugs, stop commiting crimes, stop the violence on your own race, stop hitting your kids, stop all the dysfunctional **** you do because I'm tired of my high taxes and then hearing you complain I don't pay more. Suck it up. Life is hard.....what is ******* new? I digressed I know and call me a racist if you'd like but facts and numbers are facts and numbers. The problems of black America have much more to do with themselves than anything else. Feel like a victim? Then you'll be one. Have a rule that says because you are black you get an interview? Then everyone will question you why you'll get that interview. I'm sure the Rooney's mean well but it's counterproductive to society but their rich friends (who all know what is best for all) at their snobby parties will be impressed I'm sure

Explain to me how I'm wrong? I can debate this all day long. Black America's down wall began with welfare and the LEFT keeps them there. I'm all about empowering the black community and improving their schools but trying to do it the way we are doing it in this country is a fruitless excercise and waste of money. The inner cities are disaster zones and the best we do is apply Band-Aids and keep them as victims in the process. The left likes to keep them there so they can keep getting their victim votes
 
"Affirmative Action" initiatives in the business and trades have created a level playing field (no pun intended) but have also opened the doors for corruption, substandard products & services and poor craftmanship. This causes not only animosity in say contractors whose bidding is placed behind a "minority contractor" given preference but other "minorities" whose work, service or finished product is far more superior. In some cases the awardee's work costs run over budget and time, they are disqualified for one reason or another and a secondary contractor is hired to finish or repair substandard work at additional cost to the owner, municipality, developer etc.
Here's a novel approach, hire the best qualified for a job and we stop using "persons of color" in this demented game of race pimping? Jagoffs who set someone up for failure because of their skin color should be beaten about the head and shoulders with a Louisville Slugger fer crissakes!

Yes that would be great but unfortuneately many are passed over for a job because of their race. Whether they are more qualified or not. Heck. Some are just passed over for an interview for their race. I see racism daily at work not by the higher ups but people I work with. Is it everywhere? Nope, but to say that it isn't out there still is niave.

Now the concern is that these minority candidates are being fired.. is it because they just aren't good at being a head coach? I would say yes. The rule itself is being forced too much. If there is a good minority candidate, then he will be interviewed and hired regardless of a rule. An under qualified candidate should not be brought in just cause he happens to be a minority. This is a business. Believe me, these owners want to win and make money, they don't give a damn about color like the majority of fans IMO.

Is it fair to suggest that college basketball/NBA are racist towards white basketball players? The majority of college and NBA players are black yet I still see/read about very good white players in high school who are overlooked and give up on the sport for a different career. Maybe if white basketball players were given the equal amount of basketball scholarships at the top schools with good coaching as black players they would develop into very good players. This will most likely be framed as racist though.

There is racism on all sides. Which is why the country is looking like there will be a split. Just look at the percentage of black on white crime compared to white on black crime. But I guess that isn't racism? People are starting to get tired of having a group of people that can do or say anything while the other group can't say or do anything without approval. If you are a minority you don't just get an even playing field. You get better opportunities at college, business loans, government programs, government contracts, most state jobs, government jobs ETC....
 
If they get rid of the Rooney Rule then how is Ray Sherman going to get his first-class flights and a couple days in five star hotels and restaurants for his token interviews? Ray isn't going to like this.
