Aaf

Yes and no. College football is the #1 pipeline to the NFL. However, with a decline in high school ball participation, the NFL can use an extra source of players. I actually think the NFL could find as many or more players than the NBA has in Europe. Just fund American football in some of the poorer European nations, and which big kid with athletic ability that cannot play soccer won't accept a college scholarship. Let their largest colleges play college football on a non-power five level and see what happens.

I like the AAF because it can take risks and teach the NFL a few things. Give me football the way it used to be...please. If you want to limit kickoffs, how about this?!

On a touchdown, you must kick the ball off from the 20-yard line. Show the fans some returns. A field goal, okay the other team gets the ball on their 25.

If the NFL is really serious about concussions, just force anyone who has one to sit out TWO games. Dress all 53 men, and bring back kickoffs the way they used to be.

The XFL next year will be more of what we fans want.
I believe the XFL is going to move the kickoff back to make touchbacks impossible.
Also, winners of games get more money than losers do.
I realize the first go around of the XFL was a monumental flop due to too much incorporating of WWF/WWE into it, but I think this crack at it is more serious.
The hiring of Oliver Luck was a GREAT coup for Vinnie Mac.
I’m going to check out the AAF tonight, but I’m more hopeful for the XFL 2.0 next year.

XFL also got Bob Stoops as its first head coach. That shows this league is taking things seriously this time around.

Best part of this league is being able to hear and see the replay official on a review. NFL should take note. They also look like they have a potentially cool app in the works once it gets cleaned up a little.

I am watching San Diego @ San Antonio here in AF. Pretty bad football so far. Certainly has potential though.

They should have replay and let the fans vote if it is a catch or not. A fumble or not....LOL

Has the eye in the sky been used yet? It's the ninth ref located in upper booth watching TVs and can call down right on the spot, real time and throw a flag / call.

84 for San Antonio is pretty good.
Next AB without the drama?

That Brooks guy gets a feel good story and an int to boot lol

I used to play Greg Ward almost every week when Fanduel used to have college football games.

Good job not going crazy on the uniforms. They definitely have a "modern" look but they didn't go crazy with the colors.

Refs uniforms look dumb. Either have them wear stripes or not. It looks like they are wearing a bullet proof vest over a referee jersey.

OL play is pretty bad so far but that to be expected. They have to play as a unit and it takes time. That's why there's no blitzing allowed in all star games like the Pro Bowl and the Senior Bowl etc. It's because even 5 star players on the OL won't be able to pick up blitzes when they don't know the guy next to them.

Bercovici looks like he did in college. He's fiery but real streaky, kind of like Bubby Brister

It was good enough that I will watch more. Still holding high hopes for a good alternative to the nfl. They need a good shake up in nfl land, imo. Something like this may be the ticket.

that is Grew Ward Jr...former QB at UH....was on the Eagles PS for a while last season....

Was he and Ayers on the same team / time frame while there??? Did he throw any passes, in game, to Ayers???

Ayers was inactive.

Here's what I liked:
*Length of game - The games were over in about 2.5 hours. Fewer commercials, it was great. Wish the NFL and college would both reduce game time by 30 minutes.
*Replay transparency - Hearing the replay official in live time was huge.
*Pace of play - Play clock was a little bit shorter.
*Physical football - They let them hit.
*Offseason football - What I saw was good enough to be entertained in the offseason.

Here's what I didn't like:
*No kickoffs - I think this takes away a fundamental part of the game. Back the kickoff up and put it back in play. It's an exciting play in football.
*Uniforms - It's a B league and they went all out on making it look like a B league with the uniforms and team names.
*Referee uniforms - Terrible.
*Onside kick rule - Not sure how I feel about this since the NFL essentially made it impossible to recover one. However, the new rule feels very gimmicky.

I think the NFL should modify into something similar.

Yes, Ayers was his favorite target, then he stupidly left school a year early.....

The RB #20 Farrow was also on that same team...

and Mbu #90 on the DL is out of UH also

Thanks Coolie as I knew you'd have the UH answers. I was just curious and still knda wish Ayers could have held his patience and tongue when it cam time in his STEELERS experience.

Can high school players opt for this league and skip college?
