Didn't make the Jets coaching staff. he is free and has said in the past he wants to coach for the Steelers. It would certainly not make us worse with him. why would this not make since?

Mikey Cool Shades does not abide assistant coaches who are smarter than he is. Obviously.

Kevin Greenes do not thrive as coaches under Tomlin. The Steelers are where talented athletes and go to get ****** - either as players or coaches.

It's probably all the "new" ideas he would bring. The team couldn't have that.../sarc

**** bring him in as a assistant RB coach. We seem to like assistants. I wish they would give Tomy Tom at least three of them.

Hall of fame players turned coaches who do an excellent job under Tomlin don't stay long enough. Our best coach, Munchak bolted for Denver.

Why would Greene want to work for Tomlin? He knows better than 2 play two defensive lineman. I hope the Steelers hire him, but I have reasons to doubt they will.

Were I Art Le Deuce I would meet with HCMT, resolve any contract discussion with " after you win a championship".
Then announce the hiring of Kevin Greene as Defensive Coordinator!
Mike Tomlin's contract will expire without an extension because he will not win any championships; his limitations have been defined for all to see.
After MT cleans out his office following the 2019 season, Art Rooney II announces Kevin Greene as the Steelers HC effective immediately.
All becomes well in Steeler Nation again.

Munchak was OL Coach for 4 years. LeBeau as DC for 7 years (twice as long as Cowher with two stints).

A good coach will always have opportunities arise before them. It’s why they coach. As for Munchak, he didn’t “bolt”. He had a chance to be closer to his daughters and grand kids.....and still coach OL. Genius.

I would think Green would make for better OLB coaching thaN ANYWHERE ELSE AND HE DEFINATELY WOULD BE BETTER THAN JOEY WAS. What it boils down to is how much influence CMVLT would enforce over the assistance's in-put. Bring in anyone and if they are made to follow certain guidelines then they will ONLY be as good as the guidelines and our guidelines aren't that good when it comes to "D".

Salute the nation.

start him of asa assistant LB coach and have butler give up some DC responsibility to Greene and MT at some point where Greene breaks a tablet or the screen in the film room after watching the 2DL formation as to how easy it is for 1 cut RB to move away from Cam they can easily get 6 yds a carry because of the gaps .

That doesn't fit the agenda.

It was a lateral move for Munchak. Ah, the old I want to be with the family line. If they say it when they retire on their terms, it's different. Munchak is a PA Boy. He was " home "

Are you aware most professional football coaches work 14-16 hour days and are seldom at home, except to sleep? The " I want to spend time with family " is often cover for the real reasons he wanted out.

If Munchak wanted to spend time with his daughters and grads kids, he would have retired. He was respected by the players. I think more than Tomlin was and with the gold jacket credentials.

How about just let Tomlin pick hos own coaches. Live and die with his own hiring instead of the Rooney's hand picking coordinators.

Did you not read this article? https://www.post-gazette.com/sports...cos-offensive-line-coach/stories/201901150145. Munchak is a good guy and has zero reason to lie about the reason he took a job.

There are only 32 teams in the league. Coaches take jobs when they can get them where they can get them within their own plans. You could be the worst HC to ever walk the sidelines but he will have a pick of OC, DC, OL coaches ETC.. to select from. The Steelers are one of the most stable franchises in sports (Not just the NFL). They will always attract good people. Hell you still have coaches going to Cleveland and they went winless two seasons ago. But it doesn't matter.

Of course there's a reason. Munchak is a nice guy and doesnt want to embarrass Tomlin in front of the rest of the league. I'm with Coach, dont entirely buy his "more time with family" line, either.

Just keep trying to find reasons. The fact that you're agreeing with Coach shows how desperate some of you have become to find a reason to devalue Tomlin lol

I don't know , as I get older it seems that family and friends become more important and winning that award at work isn't as exciting

Nah, the reason he wound up on the Steelers to begin with was because he would be a car drive away from his home town of Scranton. Family is big with the guy.

Steelerfan81,

The amount of past Steeler greats and recentely retired Steelers devaluing Tomlin are not desperate. What do you make of them all?

With Munch gone, the OL will take a step backward. Omar is right, Munchak is a class guy. He's not going to say anything.

Tomlin sucks.

Yep, I agree, and when Cowher retired and it came down to Whiz, Grimm, and Tomlin. I wanted them to hire Tomlin. He's just not that good of a coach.
