Ward or AB, who deserves Hall more?

Right now...Hines. Maybe in a couple years, AB will be deserving as well. If I had to choose one, regardless of what AB does the rest of his career, I pick HW.

I'm not going to allow AB's antics to change my opinion of him in terms of his play. Brown has been the best wide receiver in the game for an extended period of time, has some monster statistics, and many mind blowing receptions. He definitely deserves the Hall more than Ward. However, which player do I want on my team and who do I recognize as the greater all-time member of the Steelers? Without doubt it would be Ward.

I agree with stillerfaninfl ward should get in right now. Brown needs a few more years of doing what he has done

Who would you rather have on this team in their prime - AB or Ward?

Ward, 10 days out of 11.

Your kidding ? At this moment it's not even a little bit close. Ward hands down deserves to be in the Hall and especially over Brown
Right now Brown needs at least 3 more years of doing what he's been doing in order to be considered at all. With Browns current numbers he has absolutely no shot at the hall of fame. Needs at least a 1000 catches to even be slightly considered. No superbowls no MVPs of superbowls . He needs a pole if stats if he's not getting any other accomplishments to go with the stats

Player............games...receptions...yards........yard/game.....TDs.....Fumble...................all career totals

Brown............130.........837...........11,207.........86.2.............74...........7

Ward..............217.........1000..........12,083..........55.7.............85..........12

Due to being in the league LONGER, Ward gets the nod currently but AB will catch and pass him sooner than you think. I don't like any of AB's antics but you can't deny his ability. Antonio Brown will be a HOFer unless something stupid or injury de-rails him. I hope they both get in and Ward soon so as to NOT be a choice of either one or the other.

Salute the nation

Not even close comparison guys...AB ALL DAY LONG....He was historic while he was here: His final numbers will be 2nd ONLY to Rice

AB wil be first ballot...Hines is STILL waiting

The dude works hard and will still produce...

A Diva yeah, but Dude is a stud..

AB has been top dog for 4-5 years now...Hines was NEVER the best receiver in the league while he played....

Sorry guys, Ward was very good. AB is great.

AB will not come close to being 2nd to Rice in his final numbers. He is almost 500 receptions ion back of Fitzgerald and counting. He is a small WR who relies on quickness and he will fall of that cliff quickly when it comes. If he does not play with Ben his lack of ability to run the correct routes and ad lib will severely limit his numbers as we have seen when Ben is not playing. Great player who is selfish and does not care if we win as long as he gets his numbers, quit on his team in the biggest game of the season and a real POS as a teammate. Sorry no Hall for him.

what if he went to the pats and Tommy boy through to him? he would probs go into the hall before retirement

Divergent of philosophy. WR are measured by their production INCLUDING playoffs, and SB numbers. Megatron had monster numbers...., but no playoff measurables....he won’t make it. Issac Bruce is just now getting finalist status, and it’s a toss up if he is elected this year. But he has playoffs wins and a SB trophy.

Hines has the complete package.....started on STs, broke into the lineup and started at X Y & Z positions. Franchise leader in several WR categories. One of the best WR blockers of all time, Produced in the playoffs, has 2 rings, 1 MVP......it will be a while, but he will make it. Another thing, if Hines played with Ben his whole career, His numbers would be much more than they are now.

AB currently only has regular season numbers...until he starts getting playoff and SB production, he isn’t making it to the Hall.

Let me ask you, what would ABs #'s look like if he played with Kordell, Graham, Maddox on a run first team before the passing era.
On the flip what would Wards #'s look like if he played his career with Ben in the passing era?
If I had a big game that was a must win, give me Ward.

AB is light years ahead of Hines as a WR. He's on pace to be the best ever. Just needs to get his head on straight.

He had 100+ with Landry Jones.

Maddox was good. Kordell went to the Pro Bowl in 2001.

What is wrong with you guys. The question is who gets the nod now and we can only go off of now numbers
Currently AB is no where even close to the Hall. He will need at least 3 years of good stats to be considered
Right now ward has 1000 catches playing with guys like korky and Maddox
He's a Super Bowl MVP and a team leader. A big reason why the Steelers went to the Superbowls
Brown has only 837 catches wihich ranks in 28 on the list behind guys like tod smith and Muhammad
No superbowls

He may be a HOF guy one day but currently as this thread ask
Right now he's not even a little close.
If he doesn't make a Super Bowl or anything then I think he will need at least 1100 to 1200 catches to get in the hall that's 3 or 4 years of 100 catch seasons . He's lucky to have 2 or 3 total years at a high level left

Like I said he may get in but he has a lot of work to do. In today's era receivers finishing with 1000 to 1100 catches will be a dime a dozen.

He had 100+ with Landry Jones.

Maddox was good. Kordell went to the Pro Bowl in 2001.
One game with Landry, he's never caught a TD pass from anyone but Ben, and when Ben doesn't play he averages like 4 catches for 45 yards.
Kordell in 2001 had 3100 yards, 14 TDs and passer rating of 80.
Maddox was average, had a QB rating of 85 in 02 and 75 in 03.

Ward more than likely doesn't put up ABs numbers if Ward played when AB did, but they'd be close. AB probably doesn't even make the team if he were drafted in 1998 under the same circumstances

Go watch a AB highlight video on YouTube. He does things Hines could never dream of.

AB will likely be the greatest wide receiver to ever play when he's finished. Hines might be in the top 20

Football is not a numbers game like baseball. You especially have to throw out numbers when looking at WRs. There so much more, and easier, passing now than just 5 years ago, nevermind 10 or 20 years ago.

If you look at numbers, of course AB blows Ward away, but Ward did so much to help the team win.

When Ward played, if you asked me to pick a team from any players in the NFL at that time, I would absolutely have Ward as one of my WRs. There could have been 5-10 other great WRs i'd be happy with playing WR, but no matter who that was, I'd want my other WR to be Ward because he would do all the dirty work and help the run game and be a team leader.

That's more the stuff I think about for Hall of Fame. Not stats.

Steeler fans know how important Ward was. I think that's part of why JuJu is so popular. Steeler fans see him doing the dirty work like Ward used to do.

Ward and AB should both be hall of famers. If i have to pick though, I'd take Ward first because it's more rare to find a WR who does everything he does.

I'm a steeler Homer. But holy **** this is the most ridiculous statement I've ever heard
Brown is gonna be the greatest WR to play the game. Or most likely ???
Ha ha ha come on man. I have loved the guy but he's just about done and if he's traded he will be the next mike Wallace when he leaves. You guys don't give Ben Enoudh credit. He's gonna make whoever we got look like a hero. Look at Wallace with Ben and then without

Brown is smsll and needs speed for his game he's on the wrong side of 30 and IMO has maybe 3 quality years left
That will put his numbers around 1100-1200 catches which is really good but a far far cry from the best of all time
Not to mention no superbowls or magical MVP stuff yet

So many people are going on about AB's age. The guy will be 31 years old and he's a WR. He's not getting crushed by 300lb linemen or 260lb LB'ers. If the guy gets hit 10x a game.,...it's usually by someone similar in his size. He has 3-4 more years playing at a high level and after that if a team knows what to do with him...they just line him up in the slot. Even at 35+ he's a mis-match for any #3 or #4 DB. The guy is a play maker....it's just an uncanny ability all the great ones have. I imagine AB will break alot of Rice's records when his career is over. I'd also expect him to someday make the HoFame too. With that being said.....Give me a team player like Hines Ward over AB any day of the week and twice on Sundays. Ward was the consummate team player. The guy never, never ever took anything personal....heck Troy Edwards, Plaxico Burress, Randel El.......you name it Hines just went out and played his game.....when opportunity presented itself he made the most of it. Hines had the Heart of a Champion.....and the guy blocked so friggin good they changed the rules of the game and it's called the Hines Ward Rule. He's the offensive version of Mel Blount!

AB has more speed and quickness no doubt, but Ward rarely dropped passes too, and I don't recall hearing about him running the wrong route. Holmes was more physically gifted than Ward, that doesn't make him the better player.

AB has played his entire career with a HOF QB in a passing era.

Ward played until he was 28 with jabrony QBs on a run first team before the game was geared toward the passing game.

I think people forget how good Ward was, sort of like the people that say Crosby is better than Mario because they either forget or never saw Mario

He will break NONE of Rice's records. These are what he needs to tie Rice 712 catches, 11,688 yards and 123 TDs.

He has 837 catches and only 11, 207 yards, not even halfway there and only 74 TDs, not even 40% of the way there. He is a great receiver in a pass inflated era and there were much better recievers than him, including 2 Steelers.

One of them John Stallworth caught 80 passes for 1,395 yards 17.4 YARDS per catch something Brown has never come close to and 11 TDs in 1984 at age 32 with Mark Malone and David Woodley throwing to him. Imagine him in todays pussified NFL,with Ben throwing to him he was faster, stronger, had better hands and was a better athlete, he would be unstoppable today
