We thought we were in the clear on Munchak: Sorry gotta post it....

Two thoughts:
1. Munchak wanted to be closer to family, which shouldn't be unusual for a positional coach (reporters he could get paid upwards of $1.5 million). Weird that a guy would want to go a place where he finished second for a HC spot unless he was well compensated and had incentive.

2. Maybe this one is far fetched, but with fan pressure for Munchak to take over as HC, is there a remote possibility that the Steelers didn't want that hanging over Tomlin's head and didn't try to match or up their offer?

#2 is interesting. Artie pays attention to the media surrounding his team and of course he’s aware.

Even if there's nothing to it, it's added pressure to the guy who's suppose to be in charge. Again, just thinking way outside of the box with it.

Yes, a daughter and grandchild, that lives in Denver. He's how old, has a chance to get a raise, do what he loves, and lives near his daughter and grandchild. I can't fault him...

Finally, a voice of reason. Nice to see.

The window is closed. Gonna be several years before we can say they are serious contenders... and it has been several years since they've been.

Maybe in a few years the record will get bad enough for both a legit shot at another franchise QB and a new coach. Until then, the standard is the standard.

Thanks Rooney/Tomlin for making a joke out of a once proud franchise. You've now got coaches leaving in lateral moves just to get out of the **** show.

Stillers will be 8-8 next year at best.

Yeah Tom basically said what it simply is. Why make it more complicated then it really is? Who wouldn’t do the same? Someone mentioned Elway sweetened the pot......yes, it was sweetened big time. Munch is getting paid OC coord’s salary (1.5 is floating around). In fact, SiriusNFL reported if Elway hires San Fran’s QB Coach as their new OC, Munch will make more than him.

So, you do a lateral move, get to be closer to your daughter/grandchild and get paid more money. Family is first. His wife spent most of the year in Denver with his daughter last year because of the baby. It’s funny also folks talking about him leaving his parents in Pitt too. Gheez, his parents (or inlaws) moved in with him before last year because of their age. They will be going to Denver too.

Of course, that’s the popular thing to do these days, blame Ben.

Ben might want to rethink what he said last week on The Fan about playing as long as the team will have him. Lessee, the team got rid of one lousy coach, one okay coach, and lost one really good coach while keeping most of the ******** window lickers on defense and ST's. Next season is probably going to suck. The MVP on Shades' teams should be the FG kicker every year. Shades has a good kicker he goes 13-3. Shades has a lousy kicker he goes 9-6-1.
