Just heard on 93.7 The Fan that RB Coach James Saxon fired. Didn't see that one coming.

Starting small and working their way up...................... I hope

Maybe this is another locker room issue. It could be a stretch in my line of thinking, but the running backs always went off and stretched in their own little group at camp and were even isolated a bit during pregame routines. Again, that could be nothing, just pure speculation on my part.

Kind of a head-scratcher...could be a "locker room culture" thing as aforementioned.

Yeah, given how well Conner and Samuels performed, it cannot be football related.

****'s getting real, it seems.

please axe danny next and his ST bums dhb need to go with him.

Position coaches are tough to judge. Saxon has worked with Larry Johnson, Peterson, Bell, Conner, etc. No doubt an impressive list. How much was a product of his coaching and how much was a product of the offensive line or simply being a one-of-a-kind athlete? I agree, though. Weird move on the surface.

I heard that Saxson and Tomlin are really close, hacking away at Tomlins close friends

From the article.

Under Saxon, the Steelers ranked 16th in rushing in 2014, 16th in 2015 and 14th in 2016, while falling even further the past two seasons to 20th in 2017 and 31st in 2018 per NFL.com statistics.

This probably won’t be the last “change” we see in regards to the coaching staff this offseason.

Not really great numbers considering the Steelers had Lev Bell and an improving O line.

Didn't have Bell this year, and last year Bell was rusty coming off a holdout.

I mean I get it his units could have been better, but I won't pretend Tombert's ****** decision making didn't influence.

This guy wasn't renewed. But it wasn't for lack of performance by our backs. Im completely happy with their production. Many games they weren't used much.

Agreed. We seemed to abandon the run quite frequently due to playing from behind.

all depended on man behind center...if we ran or passed on many occasion.

Heard on Sirius that position coaches are assessed their exit interviews first, then the coordinators. So, coords will be later this week.

Yeah, head-scratcher for sure. My old man calls Danny Smith "Chewy" because of that big *** wad of gum in his mouth all the time. Must be at least an entire pack in there. Anyways, wouldn't mind seeing him go next.

I actually thought TOMLIN said something to that degree in his presser. Either way It appears that's the order happening and I bet we do see a different DC. Weather by TOMLIN or by ownership demand, it needs to happen along with the "KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF OR YOU ARE NEXT" conversation to CMVLT.

Any chance Tomlin’s final exit interview is a week after the coordinators :).

I posted this over the weekend, look at the past dates that we've fired OCs or DC, it's usually around the middle of the month
