Fans bitched and complained last off season at the piss poor efforts to get better talent on the team. Meanwhile every blogger, sports writer and Tomlin said guys like Bostic and company were great signings and the Steelers build through the draft blah blah blah. Fans suggest move up in the draft, said media again “oh you can’t do that blah blah blah”. The Chargers got a safety by moving up and it changed their defense, maybe th Steelers should have tried and maybe said media shouldn’t dismiss fans opinions so easily as it seems once again the fans know more than said media.

I'm of the opinion the "media" is devoid of journalistic integrity or accountability. It is easier to advance hopes, lies and bull **** in order to maintain some degree of relativity.
Example: The Me'Veon debacle. Had the "press" not made this the "hot topic" du jour ad nauseum on a daily basis so the self centered headline seeking Bell could publish his daily social media promise to be broken. Perhaps there is a chance the selfish one may have decided the game was bigger than he and actually brought his narrow arse in to play.
But that's just me.

Sports writers should know Bostic was cut from a few teams. He was never the answer.

James would have been a very good first round pick but the Steelers would need to trade up to get him. Reid and Bates could have been selected too, but the Steelers chose Edmunds. If he's a disappointment, and the other three are clearly better safeties ( they were are rookies ) with a 2nd round pick spent on Davis and Burnett scheduled to make $6,466,666 next season...what a cluster f.

Edmunds looks a little stiff in coverage and needs better ball awareness. He might be better off losing a few pounds. Let's hope he develops in his 2nd season.

I think the steelers need to stop drafting the "tweener" players in the first round. Drafting someone on athletic ability and potential should be saved for the later rounds. The Steelers were not even sure what to do with Edmunds. He may turn into a good player, but i think the hybrid players are too much of a risk for round 1. You want an LB then draft one. You want a S them draft a S. I still think we have a garbage D scheme so that makes our hard to evaluate the players.

THIS

Our scheme isn't conducive for hardly any players. Our coaching has proven they can't "coach up" a player. Change on both need to occure.

Salute the nation

I don’t even think the coaching knows what they want on defense. Edmunds won’t be the answer at safety, I’m not sure Davis should be starting either. There are a ton of wholes to fill on that side of the ball. 2nd corner, two MLB, Olb, another DL player or two, at least another safety who has some idea how to play the position with a half decent football IQ.

We might get lucky

Steelers are drafting at # 20 this time, if they ever should move up this would be the time to get into the next level players

They will need to do better than bottom barrel scrubs this off-season. Upgrade talent enough to hopefully it will offset soso coaching and decision making. But if they don't alter that D scheme the ship might be sunk even before they set out to sea.

Screw the defense, its unfixable in one year,, we need an offense to get us 30+ points, again, throwing away superstars and going bargain basement isnt the way to be great

how much winning when it counts have these superstars achieved? the myth you need top of the draft talent to win is laughable. we did a shitload of winning big games with a qb as our main wr. we did a shitload of winning with rib's who were not the top paid at their position. the steelers need to get back to being a team not a group of superstars and until then the results will be the same

Bostic was an upgrade over Spence and an alright signing IF he was a stopgap for a highly rated draft pick at inside linebacker. That wasn't the case.

With a FAKE PUNT HC you cant afford to go cheap, we are already playing with one hand tied behind our backs with him so slam that window shut for a decade, pissing away Bens last years with subpar talent around him that is is unacceptable. Draft WR # 1 if we have to and another RB in the first 3 rds too. ALL OFFENSE, BABY, lol

Edmunds has the athletic ability to play FS, like Ed Reed, no I'm not comparing him to Reed, just if they use him like Baltimore used Reed. Center fielder, occasionally blitz, but the fact we suck so bad at ILB we keep having to try to use our safeties in here in situations

Yep sign 3 defensive FA’s (corner and two LBs) so you can draft the best WR in round 1.

The problem is we need an OLB opposite Watt too. I'm looking for a young fast athletic ILB in the draft.
Dallas, Seattle, Colts, Ravens defense all revolve around guys like that, and Dallas and Indy have rookies at ILB that have taken their D to the next level.

Ayep

Waiting 4 years for the next Jarvis Dupree to "learn the defense" wont cut it this time, draft what u know on offense

"Wink" Martindale has put together a respectable Rats Defense, what's their formula?

It isn't that you don't draft D. You just don't reach on a CB if one you want gets taken right before your pick. And at lber you don't draft a raw prospect like Dupree you draft a productive option like Watt. They have to take their BPA with eliminating these potential problems.

I don't trust this staff to draft defenders early. Too many reaches. Too many underachieving draft picks. If they want a defender in the first, move up and draft an impact player. Sitting at 20, they'll be in position to move up some spots to get a talented prospect that starts to slip.

Steelers should have traded up to get James or Vander Eshe.

I’m still about the fact we wasted anpuck on Tomlins buddy

I know the mocks are early, but it seems one of the top CBs should be there, but I'm with you, Ben is getting near the end, go get an impact defensive player. If we trade AB we might have an extra pick in the 1st.

If that were to go down, I use a later pick to move up in the first and use a second to either add another receiver or solidify the offensive line. A lot of people want to trade Gilbert, maybe if they trade AB they move Gilbert as well for extra draft picks to make big moves.

I think they'll just cut Gilbert, save nearly 5 million if they do as he's in the final year of his contract

Would have taken almost all of their picks to do either.

I agree and I get that I don't trust them to do as I mentioned. I don't trust too many of their decisions. But they were on with Watt JuJu and Conner. I just think they tend to reach on potential over a player showing the production you want to see. Would love for them to move up but they seem to do that only on rare occasion.
