Ed Bouchette sets Ben hater Fan afternoon show host straight.

LMAO, some dumbass just called in and said Ben caused this entire thing by not taking a cut in pay so we could sign Bell. Hahaha, it's ******* better than a comedy club listening to these dumb ***** call in.

Did he have a Boston accent?

What do you want him to do? This is important. Just saying he can't control his players is easy. What steps should have he taken? Sit these guys for games? Should've he sat Bell last year for the Jacksonville game? Sat AB had they made the playoffs this year? As a fan would you all be accepting of that?

I know this looks like a defense of Tomlin. I don't intend it that way. I really want to know what the hell you do with these guys to get through to them.

Ask yourself if Belicheat would put up with it... what would he do? Then do that. There has to be accountability from someone. Hell Tomlin could have suspended him from the game and not paid him. But AB got paid for not playing. Yea, that'll teach him. HCs have a lot of authority and have many avenues to punish players. If Tomlin can't control it then I'm sure someone else can.

You nailed it steelhurt!

Every team has players capable of doing what Brown and Bell have done, it was Tomlin's job to manage and keep it in check.

Sadly the fact he paid lip service to being accountable for bad player management with Brown at his press conference this week means he's already been told he's coming back

Bouchette thinks this all stems from the MVP announcement. He also thinks this is the straw with AB and the Steelers need to trade him. He said take what you can get, trade him, pick up a good wr and the offense will be ok.

Agree. Trade him for the best, or only, offer you get. He has other behavior and possibly mental issues.

Yep for me it would have started with a two game suspension AND a hefty fine. The biggest I am allowed to give him. Then I would sit him down and let him know miss something again without calling that is a no show, and the result will be a four game suspension and fine.

For me they turned a easy situation and made it difficult.

And still haven't done the least that needs to be done.

This sit back and assess **** like it is rocket science. No you send a strong locker room message now.

AB may be the best WR in the game right now, today. He's not the GOAT. With a mediocre or below average QB, AB is JAG.
Remember those games Ben missed and AB picked up his game and led us to wins with Landry at QB?

Except you have no idea what has or hasn’t happened. Those things are handled in-house. Much like the poor performer at work. It may appear to outside observers that nothing has happened, when in reality it’s a case of not having all the facts.

I’ve been thinking the same thing, but was more thinking about how frustrated AN got
With Michael Vick at the helm. Unless AB goes to a team with a franchise QB, he’s going to be disappointed,,and then will really act out.

Other than Sanders, none of them enjoyed the same success after leaving either.

Burress was a SB MVP. That aint bad. He wasn't all that consistent, but when he was on, he was ON.

(EDIT, I'm wrong... Eli got that award, but Burress was still pretty large in the game.)

If you’re talking about this latest incident,,Tomlin hasn’t even had a chance to respond. If you’re talking about previous incidents, I think you’re being naive. Steeler fans, with our “entitlement mentality,” would never have stood for sitting AB for two games. Tomlin was in a no win situation, in our star driven league.

And yes, superstars are given latitude on every team.

Actually we have a pretty good idea because a lot of it happened on the sideline in front of the world. We also know what Tomlin said in his press conference. We also know what Ben said about it. We also know that AB and Harrison are best friends and are making videos together on the internet. We also know that Tomlin made a new rule that said the coaches and players were to show up 2 hours before the game. None of them do it. And he does nothing about. I could go on and on but you get the point.

Obviously it isn't being handled in house. I understand you think the HC has nothing to do with this but he is the leader of the team and he has the authority to stop this ****. I know you want to absolve him of any responsibility but that's just the way it is.

I don't know, as much talent as AB has I have to wonder if other teams really want to bring all this drama into their locker room, especially for what he'd want money wise. There's backlash in the press already..

I'm sure someone will be willing to pick him up but I'm not sure someone will be willing to cough up anything huge for him.

Most top WRs require some maintenance. Brown obviously requires more. Here's the thing, AB is a gamer, and producer. And durable and drug-free. No one says he doesn't work hard on his craft. He'll upgrade any team he goes to, though personally speaking, I don't think he'll be quite as good.

Ben's second chances and unique ability to make plays after contact or rolling out often allows AB extra time to break free. Where else is he going to find a strong-armed accurate QB who can do that and trusts him?

He doesn't have to appease the fan base he needs to run a team and discipline accordingly.

BTW Tomlin did respond to the latest incident he sat him for the game. With pay.

It keeps happening!! Proof that whatever they are doing is not working.

Julio and Fitz don’t need any maintenance.

The truth of the matter is that AB needs Ben more than Ben needs AB. It might be a marginal difference, but as others have said here, unless Brown goes to a team with a certified franchise QB, he'll be just another guy. He might have flashes of greatness with lesser QBs, but he won't be maintaining a consistent level of production.

No, you’re right. He doesn’t need to appease
The fan base, and as you can see, neither he nor the Rooney’s are paying you guys much mind with your demands for his head.

My point is that the people who are criticizing his for doing nothing would have complained even more if he sat AB for two games. He’ll, ya’ll couldn’t even handle a fake punt. lol

Half the board wants him cut and you think they would be up in arms over a 2 game suspension? I think most would welcome a punishment they felt was a long time coming.

You are actually equating disciplining a player who has become toxic to the decision to go for a fake punt?

One of the assumptions many of you are working under is that the discipline will work. It seems to me the Steelers have a TO on their hands, and the sad truth there is no discipline really worked...he always hid behind the fact that he wasn't out breaking laws and doing drugs or beating up women or whatever.

I know I'll get ripped for this, but I really don't give a ****. I admire Tomlin in a way for trying to treat these guys like men, instead of the 14 year olds in a man's body that many of them are. That is his mistake, I guess. The players are the biggest ********...you have a guy willing to allow you some freedom and not be on you like a rash, and you abuse it.

So because Tomlin can't control his locker room, he can't lose his job because of the monster he created? Really? So if AB wasn't an issue everyone would be talking about how this team tanked and missed the playoffs because of horrible coaching, time management and stupid play calls. Then he could be fired but because he also sucks at controlling his own locker room now he can't be fired.

Yeah this is all a big distraction in my opinion... I don’t care what kind of dive AB is... he produces a ton while usually doubled or tripled....

Under Tomlin we have had one Bad apple wr after another and the only common denominator is the head coach... hell Ward got his DUI under Tomlin... you cannot tell me something is wrong there... wr’s are by nature narcissistic... you cannot encourage that then expect them not to go full attention ***** at some point... Holmes, Wallace, Bryant, Brown... to a lesser extent sander and even weslye saunders

The question is is this something where each of them had an uncontrollable attitude coming in or did it get developed here... cause I don’t see that legacy of guys that mostly were forced off due to character issues over talent... and that is a troubling pattern that the media is shouting down at every chance right now
