rats swoop in and pick up Matthew Thomas

We will never know the reason for NOT signing him to a Futures Contract. Maybe he was a slow learner or a Diva but what ever it was it didn't take him long to find a job. I think from what we see as a fan isn't neccessarily what is "true bill" on the everyday basis. I doubt he will come back to haunt us but when a team as depleted as we are at ILB, he looked like a starter in preseason or at least an upgrade for the new NFL highbreed ILB.

I showed in another thread that all of that "looking good in preseason " wasn't that impressive as he was playing against grocery baggers and ups drivers.

Maybe he will be as good as people think. Just as likely, he is anothe Thadeus Gibson about whom we are still ruing the day.

I agree ark as I said, I doubt he comes back to haunt us. My main point was what we as fans don't nessecairly see what is day to day reality. I don't wish him bad but do wish him a bad game when he plays us.

I don't blame him for not wanting to be part of this continuing cluster **** **** show circus.

I didn't see much there at this point, but you never know. I just didn't see enough to be remotely upset.

This is a big loss looking down the road. Matthew Thomas has alot of potential down the road. Loosing him to the Rats makes me sick to my stomach!

Because Mike Tomlin signs players, and in this case, opted not to offer Thomas a contract. ******* Tomlin, can't get anything right. /sigh

The Tomlin hate around here is like an anchor around our necks, as far as trying to have adult conversations.

Neener neener you big poopy-head.

Thomas was offered but declined to sign a Futures Contract. He was unhappy that Pittsburgh demoted him to the Practice Squad this year and never gave him a shot to play.

In a season when we watched our slow MLB crew get torched game after game, the most athletic MLB we had sat on the Practice Squad without a chance. Hard to argue with his view of the situation after watching Bostic and Vince get burned week after week. What more could have happened with a faster, more athletic MLB on the field? Could he have been burned worse?????

Just another example of complete asset mismanagement from this front office and coaching staff. Hard to imagine Thomas couldn't have handled the Special Teams duties of Matakevich who is, somehow, slower than both Vince and Bostic but who got a helmet every week.

Everything Steelers is just a disaster right now.

Remember how many times that kid by the name of Harris, Harrington, Haselback, whatever his name was, was cut by the Steelers AND Ravens numerous times? What ever happened to him, did he ever amount to anything?

Steelers are the New New Browns, the new dysfunctional Factory of Sadness

Not when Ben retires, i think he's had enough of the Tomlin era, i bet he says hes done if AB is gone

I'd take that bet in a heart beat. I believe Ben would stay just to prove he can get it done without AB.

I blame all this on that FAKE PUNT, otherwise we be in the playoffs

FIRE TOMLIN!

That is a bad sign if he declined our futures contract, and jumped ship. Looks like it's starting to turn into a trend...

You mean like the WR (Ayers?) who was insulted for being asked to the PS? C’mon Cope...Thomas is a fringe player at this point. It’s been well reported his lack of understanding the defensive playbook outweighed his speed.

Ayers ****** up...he had a shot here.

Who knows with this kid, All Colbert could do is offer the kid a futures contract...he didn't HAVE to sign it...these guys make decisions based on their viewpoints and it is not like this guy was a sure fire starter down the line....

Many consider the leadership when deciding to stay or go. He decided to lean . Bell leaves. Now AB. Harrison with nothing good to say. Looks like the players actions are speaking louder than words.

I was bummed about this at first, but actually it may not be that bad after all. This team doesn't need another disgruntled player and his attitude seemed a little off off for a free agent.

Thomas had every bit as much talent as Darius Leonard drafted by Indy. Thomas is even faster and better in coverage. Leonard got playing time Thomas didn’t only difference. Go back to preseason tapes Thomas even had better preseason. We should have thrown Thomas in to the wolves and played him sink or swim prove you have what it takes to play linebacker for the famed Steeler defense. No we plug in pluggers l8ke fort and Bostic it means nothing now to be a steeler linebacker. This is horrible
