Ben is poised to throw for over 5,000 yards this season

If Tomlin pulls a Bruce Arians and tells me how great a season it was because Roethlisberger threw for 5000 yards, I'm going to blow up his house (joking... don't come after me FBI).

Actually it's Tomlin the ex receiver who has brought in the wideout talent including the best receiver in the NFL that keeps Ben in those high stats. Ben is Ben...Ben is not Brady, Ben is not Brees, Ben is not Rodgers. He's not elite, he's surrounded by elite talent including an elite O-line.....yet they will all probably be home watching the playoffs. Imagine Brady, Brees, etc. on this team.

Also in another thread Ben keeps Tomlin propped up by winning just enough to keep the team from having losing seasons and Tomlin keeping his job, and It's Tomlin's fault they suck in the playoffs......

How is that not also to Ben's credit? The playoff losses? The turnover ratio shows where a big part of the problem with this team lies, like I said I love Ben but I don't delude myself about him and what he is.

I forgot the numbers, but it's basically Steelers #1 in interceptions and fumbles in the playoffs going back x amount of years with many fumbles including a couple by Ben. It is what it is.

You're right. Ben isn't Brees or Rodgers -- they've only won one Super Bowl.

They average 27.5 PPG. They are scoring points as they are 4th in PPG. The problem is that they have no balance on offense to salt the game away. The defense isn't helping either when they give up leads. They are 15th in points allowed. The HC doesn't help when he calls for stupid fake punts and playing Dobbs with a small lead.

Actually I think the fake punt was the right call when you're going against one of the top QB's in and league and you know your defense sucks.

I would have rather they just lined up with their best players on offense and made a go of it with the ball in Ben's hands.

It's dumb in two ways. 1. You take your best players off the field and try to get 5+ yards with a 250 lbs. FB. 2. The entire reason for the fake (according to Tomlin) is so that they can get the ball back if they score with time . But later we find out that isn't true because he uses all of his TOs and has less than 2 minutes remaining after they score. We also know that if the call stood on the TD it's 3rd and inches with the clock running and they score with about 20 seconds left and you have no TOs. So how can he claim that time was the issue and then not let them score? It makes no damn sense.

I do not disagree. Ben and AB were on a roll. But if you're going to punt there I think a fake punt makes sense.

It makes sense if you accept and acknowledge that Shades is a ******* idiot. Here at SteelerNation.com we embrace that. Remember, this is the same coach who hasn't won a red flag challenge in two years. But in that situation I still think a fake punt was better than a real punt.

You have several options: Fake punt, real punt, or go for it on 4th with your HOF QB. Also game planning for the "What if" scenario. What if it fails? Tomlin said why he did it. But the reason doesn't match what he did in the game. My guess is that he went with his gut and just went for it. IF it were part of a large scheme to let them score then it makes a little more sense. But how he coached afterwards tells me he didn't do it for time reasons. If he had he would have let them score quickly and not waste all his TOs and be left with a little over a minute.

They didn’t bother Madonna when said it about the Donald so wouldn’t worry about it.

Santonio Holmes, Mike Wallace, Antonio Brown, Juju Smith Schuster, Vance McDonald, Jesse James, Heath Miller, Antwon Randle El, Cedric Wilson...
I could go on. These are all players who THRIVED (or thrive) with Roethlisberger. He IS the constant.

Many of these players had far less successful careers elsewhere.

Tomlin doesn't know **** aside from config tiny receivers who happen to be quick.

Brown IS a stud, but he was a lucky draft pick.

I hope he slings the **** out of that ball next week, and EARNS the NFL passing title outright this time. We know he doesn’t have a snowballs chance in hell of getting the MVP, so I hope he gets the passing title.

Oh....He will be slinging this puppy ALL OVER THE PLACE.....

Not making the playoffs with a HOF QB who threw for over 5,000 yards is absolutely incredible. If that doesn't scream a coaching change is needed I don't know what does.

6th all time in yards passing. 7th all time in touchdowns. Not bad for a game manager.

Today’s rules help in that hugely. Look at staffords numbers and he sucks
