He could've cut Haggans instead of Porter and the difference would've only been a million, why cut the better player when it's not a huge savings? He wanted to show whose team it was and Porter was the voice of the team. Ben was under his rookie deal, Bettis was gone, Holmes a rookie, Harrison had yet to prove himself. They weren't in horrible cap shape

I could be wrong but the way I remember it Porter wanted to be extended or released with a year left on his deal.
