Boswell to IR; Steelers Sign McCrane to Kick

And just to be clear he wasn't mentioned in the post game or Tuesday pressers nor the initial or subsequent injury reports. Suddenly he is IRd before having to kick in the final game at Heinz where he has been brutal. Seems to serve him and Tomlin well considering if he somehow costed playoffs Tomlin would be really in it. Not that I have anything against a fake injury in this circumstance in fact I suggested it 8 weeks ago. Just dont say mystery solved.
 
Just retire Ben, this organization doesn't care about winning, just trying to save a dime

Oh, now he's hurt? A curious time indeed. McCrane was 5 for 9 in the NFL. Not too impressive.

Drill down stats. He was 3-3 inside 30 yards, but just 2-4 in the 40-49 yard range and 0-2 beyond 50.

Few of the kickoffs ( 5 of 17 ) from the 165 pounded McCrane were touchbacks in 2018.

Not very impressed....

Boz went through his normal prep at the end of the Saints game. With 40 seconds left he was kicking into the net, didn't appear to be hobbled. Odd.

I saw that. Something else is up. A missed kick that costs us a win by Boswell would only have the critics yelling louder at Tomlin. So he IR'd his kicker to avoid that happening in the final game, which is a MUST win for us.

The trouble is the new guy has had a very poor NFL career.

Boswell will get his chance agin in camp, but if he struggles in camp and the pre-season we'd better bring in a better kicker.
 
What's the status of the towel dispensing machine at the local Sheetz gas station? That might explain it.
 
I can tell you after listening to Tomlin with reasonable certainty that this injury is made up or at bare minimum badly inflated. Discomfort. When the **** did discomfort get you on the IR. Which is fine by me. Just wish it was a long time ago and they had the better pick of the crop.
Could be on Boz end could be on Tomlin. Could be on both. But I'm saying almost certainly this is a bullshut story.
 
remember Tomlin decided it was a good idea to field a punter with not one, but 2 bad hamstrings
 
Reports say Boswell injured his groin against NO. Pulled up kinda lame after he made one of the FGs

BS or not, bottom line is they are protecting him. They are going to give him the "off-season" to get his phcyalogical above the neck in order. There will be a Kicker competition and best man will be our new Kicker. There are some cap implications as to why he wasn't "cut" durring the season. Again, he was a great story but I'm not so sure he makes next year's roster. I like him and he was solid but the physic is ???

Honestly how are they going to play him on this team next year. It always comes down to confidence in the kicker. Wont matter how he looks in camp or preseason. It will be regular season games that matter. You wont know until it's too late if he has it back or not.l

The huge risk Tomlin is taking is putting a **** kicker in who MAY lose the game. He'd be just as skewered for that.

Truly horrible. The guy is a ******* menace.
