Nice read...if you’re ready to try to find positives

Overall, if Tomlin needs as much help as the author implies, he should not be a head coach.

Also, I do not see Sean Davis as a building block. He costs the Steelers too many yards with bad pursuit angles and doesn't make enough plays to compensate.

You've got to be kidding me.. The author is a Tomlin lap-dog. So Tomlin needs more people to give him information. Tomlin needs a new DC ETC.... if Tomlin needs all this stuff then maybe Tomlin is really the issue?

Tomlin is in charge of the defense. It's his defense. Why not fire Butler and just let Tomlin be the DC.. I know why. Because Tomlin needs someone to blame. So he keeps Butler around to run HIS defense then blame him when it doesn't work. All the excuses should be over with. He's ran the defense since last year. It was even discussed in a Bouchette article. So blaming Butler makes no sense.

What a joke! It’s all Tomlin’s fault, but he shouldn’t be fired. Sean Davis is an excellent building block? He’s got like three big plays in his three year career.

Belichek and other coaches have dedicated analytics people, so why not Tomlin? People on this board have said the same thing. He suggests the defense got better late implying Tomlin had positive effect. I don’t know if that’s true, but it’s interesting to me. He simply suggests this season may be bad enough to prompt positive change. Dear God do you really think Tomlin is going anywhere just because we ***** on a message board? To harp on that incessantly is, well useless. Sorry if the article didn’t do anything to stimulate some alternative ideas. Since I know TomLin is safe, I am encouraged to think there MIGHT be some other options to improve our team.

Whatever improves the team I am for.

As with most here I hear what you are saying but also feel replacing the DC will not fix anything UNLESS the new DC is given complete reins in the job. He hires his own assistant coaches and adopts a player scheme all while Front office has the "talk" to CMVLT about hands off and "HOT" seat implications.

I realize TOMLIN / COLBERT are going no where but also I don't accept the standard as is. My little voice won't be heard and what little $$$$ I spend on the STEELERS product won't be felt, SO I'll persevere until I care so little and accomplish many other things on my NFL time. I'm NOT bailing as I've been a STEELERS fan since 1968 and where I live near 2000 miles away........many wonder how that came to be. Bottom line I've got a lot vested into them and hope they figure it out soon as our LOADED talent, including HOF QB won't be there forever and this group[ should be well ahead of the curve of a non-losing season. FAK

Personally, I'd like to find some reasons for optimism.

I really would, but I've seen Mike Tomlin direct these Steelers movies enough times to know that nothing is going to change enough to make a real difference.

I can pretty much assure you that we will be having these same conversations next December/January, and they got old four of five years ago.

I'm ready to stop hearing excuses. I've seen this movie a bunch of times now with the same results.

Like the rest of you, I’m pissed and upset. However, I found this article both interesting and somewhat hopeful, so I’m sharing for anyone who, like me, needs to hear something good right now:

Agree with most of this article except, FIRE TOMLIN!! If you have to bring someone in to guide him on issues, then let THAT PERSON BE COACH!!!!!!!!

The defense got better late? Really? Didn't they just finish losing 4 of their last 5 games? In their first 5 games they got 8 turnovers. In their last 5 they got 3. And everyone is bitching that TO's are much better than sacks. Ok The defense was better earlier in the year with TOs. Also they gave up 24 points to Denver who averaged 21 PPG, 34 points to the Chargers who average 27 PPG. 24 points to the Raiders who average 19 PPG. So I don't see things being much better.

I don't know nor care what Belicheat has or doesn't have. Tomlin has what he wants. So he gets the blame. It's his circus so I'm not blaming the clowns. I know he isn't going anywhere just like you know the refs aren't changing any calls from the game two days ago. But somehow you and other still ***** about that right? Endless conspiracy theories and weeping and gnashing of teeth about if a ball might or might not have hit Tuitts arm. And nobody on this message board is going to change any of those calls. But they are discussed endlessly. That's what a message board is for.

We've known for 10 years that Tomlin doesn't give attention to details and he hasn't accepted help. And wtf is a HC for if it isn't details. It's apparent to almost everyone that he wants to run the show his way but doesn't accept responsibility. It's always a coordinator that takes the fall. It's time to rid ourselves of coach cliche and get someone in here that can do all the things a HC is supposed to do.

We know by now Tomlin isn't responsible for anything. Sorry but leadership positions don't work that way. I have no problem with getting him information or hiring some one that understands situational football 101. But there comes a point where there is no one left to blame. Everybody else has been replaced, OC, DC, LBs coach, ETC... And none of those positions have anything to do with bad game day decisions. The ST coach didn't run up to Tomlin and say "I think we can sneak our 5'11 250 lbs. FB to gain 5+ yards" in the most critical time of the game. Tomlin made that call. Tomlin has his hands all over the defense. Hell It's his defense. We know this because the drafting has changed and the schemes have changed. This is some type of morphed hybrid ****** up 3-4, 2-5 version of a Tampa 2 defense.

Terrible take on Tomlin's defense. I watch Baltimore's defense suffocate teams on a weekly basis and they are not a team scattered with All Pro talent across the board either. That is a well coached defensive football team.

Sean Davis isn't a great building block either. He's not a playmaker and has been susceptible to big plays due to miscommunication with other players in the secondary.

There was an OLD commercial from Wendy's it had an old lady who asked about beef. Well she was spotted right here on this message board with another QUESTION

"Where's the POSITIVE.?."

I see the STEELERS under coach Mike TOMLIN struggling against the mighty Bungles this weekend. Mike will be watching the Ratbirds score board and seeing them not phased but losing last second tough contest narrowly. Mike will pull all stops yet fail within the situational call.
