Tomlin sucks but he did not lose this game for us

Good game plan, refs jobbed us, individual fuckups. No issue with the fake punt, we still should have won. Can't **** up against a good team. Solid effort all around,

Sorry but I disagree 100%. Sure you can blame the loss on the fumbles but none of that happens if he didn't live in his fears. We went 5 wide and it was working beautifully, we went from being down late in the 2nd to up by 4 early in the 4th. Then what does Tomlin do? He takes the ball out of Ben's hands and goes conservative. No more 5 wide. Even Tony Home kept commenting on how Ben was reading and performing in the 5 wide sets. NO couldn't stop us. SO, we get up by 4 and start ******* running the damn ball. The result was a fumble. 5 wides there and we very well would have score to put the game away or at least make it a 7 point game. Then we get the ball back after Brees scored the go ahead TD and he still doesn't go 5 wide. We struggle to move the ball and JuJu ends up fumbling the ball to end the potential scoring drive (which we had another bad penalty go against us when a hold was called on JuJu for a 5 yard gain instead of a PI call to give them the spot foul and be in FG range. This all cost us another fumble and scoring opportunity. None of this would have been needed if Tomlin would not have lived in his fears and gone conservative with a 4 point lead on the road against a high powered offense. Dumb! Dumb! Dumb!

Let's not forget Tomlin did this against Cleveland and we held on for a tie. He also did it in at least one other game that cost us. Again, sure you can say the turnovers should have never happened or the horrific penalty calls or lack thereof cost us the game but we had the chances and the biggest reason we lost was cool shades going conservative and living in his house full of fears.

Oh and I don't want to keep a old coach out of fear on what the new coach will do.

I want a coach capable of guiding this team to a SB and winning it.

We don't have that right now.

Don't forget the D fail of 3rd and 20. That didn't put them in a position to succeed with what they called.

Aggie is 100% right. How can you not make the playoffs with this type of talent? Yes the defense isn't great but it's exactly what Tomlin wanted when DC left. His fingerprints are all over it. They aren't the worst in the league but they aren't dependable. How do you give up a 3rd and 20? How in the hell do you continually cover the other teams best WR with a ******* ILB? Not just any ILB but probably the slowest ILB on the team... Probably the slowest LB on the team. How in the hell do you only use 2 DL in a goal line situation? It makes no sense. Why are you trying a fake punt on your own 40 yard line with a FB and you need over 5 yards? Plus you are leading by 4 points and there is over 4 minutes left in the game and they haven't scored since the open drive of the 3rd QTR. Who does this ****? Before that fake punt they had punt, punt, blocked FG. Not one drive over 6 plays.

This team loses because the HC is clueless. The talent is there and a real HC that understands how a clock works could make this a 12 win team over night.

He went conservative again when we had the opportunity to go up by 10. He decided to take the ball out of our best player and run, run, run. It resulted in a fumble. He should have never gone conservative with the entire 4th quarter to go and a 4 point lead against a high power offense on their home turf. That was plain stupid and TERRIBLE COACHING. There is no other way to look at it.. Tomlin is the main reason we lose the game. 2 turnovers came from him pulling out of the 5 wide too early.

Its very simple. his message is just run thin. Because that is what he is. He is a great motivational coach. Just for comparison sake, have a close look at Seattle. Pete Carroll burnt that thing to the ground last year. Fired virtually every assistant coach and totally revamped his Super Bowl defense. They are now back contending in what two years and the defense looks amazing. Since the Harisons and the Polamalus and the Taylors and the Keisels have been gone we are talking about 6 or 7 years and this POS can't get it fixed. Like ****. If you cant fix it yourself at least step aside and bring in a DC who can.

We disagree for sure. Running the ball is not living in your fears. Now calling for a guy off the bench with known fumble issues - that is just stupid. Samuels was in the groove at that point. That made no sense. You guys who want Ben to run 5 wide every ******* play seem to have selective memory about the almost inevitable crucial INTs that brings. BTW, that last fumble by JuJu was from a 5 wide set.

You either go for it on 4th down and try to draw a penalty, or you have Ben pooch punt the ball. The fake punt is the LAST thing Tomlin should have done.

I'm fine with just going for it if you do it with your best players. Put the ball in Ben's hands. You don't give it to a FB and trust him to get over 5 yards.

Oh BTW I just texted a life long Patriot fan friend of mine , and asked him what was the main reason Rid was shown the door in NE.

And immediately he mentioned his fumbling issues.

So again you don't give a fumbling prone RB in clutch time on 3rd and 2 the ball against the number 1 rushing D.

His history combined with his propensity to only be able to pick up a yard or two, would have made him my last option in that situation.

They won't be suspecting that lets do it !

How did CJ Johnson look yesterday.... guess he wasn’t a Tomlins boy

You pass it.

which made that a stupid ******* decision.

Late to this thread and it's been hammered over and over but I'm going to state it myself.

That fake punt was one of the dumbest decisions Tomlin has ever made. Ever. Period, end of story. Your team has just had 3 drives back to back where offensively you are throttling New Orleans (end of the half and your first two long drives of the 2nd). You're up 28-24. You're in your own half of the field. Your defense the previous 2 drives was stout. There's plenty of time on the clock even IF they do score. You punt the damned ball. Going for that giving them short field was stupid as hell.

Now if you're saying well we may have wanted them to score quick - bullshit, you can't say that was the idea because IF IT WAS WE WOULD HAVE LET THEM SCORE QUICK. We did not. We made every attempt to stop them. For four consecutive plays I was screaming "let them score" at the end so we could have time back.

That fake punt goes down as one of Tomlin's dumbest decisions ever in my book.

Oh and BTW you could have left Ridley in there to block, you could have simply called another ******* play. You know on 3rd and 2 against a top running D you want to pass. Pass ******* pass. You know pass with that QB elite QB that was in a ******* groove.

AB was out one on one. Ben should bave seen that and audibled to him

I dunno I thought the last time we discussed something similar Ben mentioned he does what he is told.

I've wondered if he said that because he has checked out regarding Tomlin. No evidence beyond a passionate competitor sounding off, but I wonder.

I haven't decided yet if the hand off to Ridley or the fake punt was the worst call.

My God...do you understand football?? That was a loser coach call...no way given the circumstances should that call have been played. Tomlin chose to lose.
-4:00 minutes to go
-Your not across the 50 yard line
-It's 4th and 5! not 4th and 1
-The other team has the best QB in league and you want to give him only 45 yards to get TD
-Your defense is playing ok, not shut down (and hasn't in weeks)

The correct call should have been telling your punter & STs to nail the punt inside the 10
Tell your defense to defend 90 yards!

Good question. I think both can make their case for the games biggest bonehead decision. That and the 3rd and 20 fail.

Tomlin deserves blame for other games this season, but not for the Chargers or this game... these were 100% ref ****** losses...

You are 100% wrong... in this day and age defenses are so useless it is almost to the point that punting on anything less than 4and ten deep in your own territory is statistically stupid... ten years ago punting anywhere past your own 40 became stupid based on probabilities... just like unless you need one point to win or tie statistically you should go for two every time

You want to play 1990’s run yhe ball and play d to win you will lose a **** ton in the rodger goodell era

The refs did not cost us the game yesterday, the decision to go for a fake punt on our 40 yard line when up by 4 points cost us the game.
The Chargers game was lost by the same horrific defensive scheme that has Vince Williams and Bostic chasing Keenan Allen all over the field. We had a 16 point lead at halftime and our AWFUL defensive scheme gave up another game.

Crying about officials makes us no better than Seahawks fans. We should have won BOTH games regardless of the officiating.

The Raiders game... On Tomlin.
The Chargers game SO on Tomlin.
The Broncos game... Tomlin.

Coaching himself out of a wet paper bag... Tomlin.

Chargers game had 14 points gifted to them by refs bad as yesterday.

Get a grip
