Nope not the officials, nope not the fumbles, nope not the fake punt attempt, for me it’s watching the Steelers play their hearts out and wonder why they only play with this level of intensity when their backs are to the proverbial wall. It’s going to be awful if this team is not in the playoffs...when they bring it they can beat anyone in the league. ANYONE.

One poster summed it up beautifully.

This team can beat anyone, and lose to anyone.

A very dissappointing season.

I was thinking the same thing. I saw something different the last 2 weeks. The whole team played with everything they had. Then we see them against **** teams and they just look like they mailed it in.
That **** is on the coaching.

They can't beat Tomlin...

It is on coaching, all the way back to pee-wee days. These players have been able to mail it in their whole lives, because they we so much better than the other players. By the time they get to the Pro level, if they haven’t developed the play balls out every play ethic, it is too late. This is exactly why I would rather have 53 75-80% who have had to work their ***** off to stay even. The 90-100% players do not always have the work ethic, some do, but the VAST MAJORITY do not.

Bad coaching,bad player development,bad drafting,horrific officiating!

The league is worth hundreds of billions of dollars and this is the best they can come up with?

Bad drafting?

What planet you on?

Planet ******* earth. They have drafted like **** on defense in the last 10 years. If any of them did have potential they sure as hell didn't develop them. Shazier is the only guy I saw who was going to be a superstar. Watt may be another. That's it. It shows.

I'm not sure who we could have drafted that would excel in the 2 DL and cover a slot receiver with an ILB scheme. But that's just me.

Agreed on the drafting. We draft offensive players better than any team but only one out of 3 Defensive draftees are good.

I am more on board with scheme.

Why? It is because in certain situations the players have shown to be solid.

and in certain schemes they flat out couldn't stop a one arm **** slinging money.

I would put money on that a competent DC with a solid scheme could get them to succeed. At least to the point that they aren't giving up game winning drives on the regular.

Dupree has had his best year. Watt is bordering on star. Heyward and Tuitt stop the run and are solid overall provided they stay healthy. Shazier was a star.

I think they are hit and miss. Not sure I agree with bad drafting as a whole. But with the misses they do a ****** job of filling those spots.

And when Tombert is simply trying to scrub a dub fill some holes. Those misses will be more noticable.

I expect draft misses. I also expect to be able to fill holes outside of the draft when needed.

And that besides being gift wrapped Haden is where IMO their biggest fails have existed.

Most of these guys are great athletes or they wouldn't be there. Defence is all about scheme. Game planning to creating chaos, mismatches, making adjustments as the game goes on. Which are exactly Tomlin's weak points.

I'll take that credit as what is so surprising about losing to the worst team in the NFL then expecting a win against the best team in the NFL. Pretty simple math and YES,.............CMVLT coaches the team both those faced (to spell it out, TOMLIN coached the loser of those two games)

Salute the nation

As I said in an earlier thread..this season is the most disappointed I have been as a Steeler fan...more disappointed then the Jacksonville playoff loss last year...more disappointed than in '95 when we lost to the Chargers in the playoffs.

Never have I seen a Steeler team snatch defeat from the jaws of victory so many times in one season.

Truth.

And yes Tomlin has passed his used by date.

You're right that scheme falls into bad coaching. Its absolutely **** . It's been failing for many years yet we keep doing it and getting smoked.

When was the last time they drafted a top notch corner, safety and nose tackle? Cowher. You need to have those 3 in that 3/4 and some badass linebackers.

A long time. But they went away from the traditional NT. And at S and CB yes a lot of fail.

Their weakest drafting of all, but instead of improving the weak spots we get marginal free agents at best.

which goes back to decision making as well

You know, three big pieces of that the team were missing this year: Shazier, Bell, Boswell the killer B. Of course it’s the Steelers’ job to replace, but this was not the same team that went 13-3. (I realize Shazier missed games last year too). My point is that without Bell, and no real idea of how we would be at ILB, throw in “bad Boz” and we really had some missing key pieces.

That's why this **** is on Tomlin, we have a team talented enough to beat NE, should've beaten the best team in the NFL, then turn around and tie the browns, lose to a 2 win Oakland team, lose to a ****** Denver team, lose a 16 point second half lead to the Chargers at home.

I am so ******* tired of reading this. We NEVER ONCE missed Bell. Not ONE ******* game.

You go look at Conner's numbers, compare them to Bell's and tell me where the **** we missed Bell?

It's not even about better value at the salary! Conner RAN and CAUGHT better than Leveon ******* Bell.

Let the myth of Leveon go. He WASN'T that ******* good.

I love the Steelers were missing key components argument. Again the Steelers had one of their worst off-seasons. Failing to stock talent at key positions. Then when the deficiencies showed themselves early in the year they sat on their hands and brought nobody in. Where other teams improved their deficiencies by being active. Cooper and Anderson sure could have helped this club. And that is even without digging. I still maintain one of those FS signed late could have greatly helped. Every rock wasn't overturned obviously. Combine that with a mediocre looking draft and questionable defensive scheme and questionable in game decisions. It is a wonder this team even win eight games. **** they should just shove the MVP award under Ben's tree. Because he is holding this team together.
