The key to turning this thing around IMO is establishing the run game again. No coincidence we were playing our best football when we were running the football effectively. Obviously our defense has folded but the more pressure we can take off them and keep them off the field the better. I don’t care who it is but Ridley, Samuels, or even Edmunds needs to step up this week to give us a shot.

Scroller during the Browns game last night said start Samuels if you got him in your fantasy. Don't know if that's true or not but RB by committee isn't working with Ridley so let JaySam pound the rock and get OL in his rhythm. Gotta keep Marsha on the sideline to have any success and running the ball and the clock be a way to give us a chance.

Pats***** run defense is among the worst in the league, of course we have to have Connor out plus Shades' tendency to not attack our opponent's weakness since that's what they'll be expecting.

They will hold us to 12 attempts with 39 yards rushing. ALWAYS not gear to opposition's weakness as they will expect that. COUNTLESS times we have seen this cenario and failed to exploit their weakness. Am I expecting to much as a bar stool eating lunch fan who doesn't get paid or should I raise my expectations and ask for $$$$$$$.

Salute the nation

I would give Ridley first and second down. They won't even try with JSam. He can go in on third down. Honestly I give them a 10 percent chance today. Ben will have to throw for 500 and be near perfect. They will stack against pass and the Steelers will be ******.

2 yard Ridley? I rather they leave Jaysam in for a catch option and just pass it.

I agree if they are going to abandon the run before the game starts which is what will happen if they play Samuels. But if you go one dimension against the Pats the game is over before kickoff.

Then run it with Jaysam, Ridley really offers little to nothing.

He looks the part. But the Raiders were begging to be run upon and the Steelers could not. They are ****** today.

When is the last time the Steelers truly tried to run the ball? It's been quite awhile.

Its ******. When Conner got hurt that was the final nail. He was a spark. They will double AB, put their best cover corner on Juju and the Steelers will have to survive on the scraps they get from the rest which isn't near good enough. Part of me doesn't even want to watch.

The coaches have to use Samules correctly. I think he's a good draw and counter runner. And great on a screen pass and check down option.

Asking Ben to throw it 40-50 times is like being -1 or -2 in the turnover department...and we know Brady throws few interceptions and we suck at getting them, so...

Ridley for 130 yards and two scores. That was my vision this morning. My wife may have spiked my coffee.

The problem is ....

we have no capable cowbell in the backfield right now..

We have no BELL

Stubborn Rooneys threw away our season to pinch a few pennies

We are LAST in the NFL in running 32.8 %

We are LAST in the NFL in running 44.2% when having any lead

We are LAST in the NFL in running 18.8 % when trailing by any margin

We are LAST in the NFL in running 34 % when tied

This coupled with the fact we lose any shootout, we have not won a single game when the opponent scores at least 30 points is more evidence Tomlin doesn't self scout, is a moron and has no clue on what is wrong once again.

^^^ Well the coaches used him correctly and results showed. Better late than never. Thanks Randy.

I disagree. We were running it down their throat. Then go to a no back set, why? Play action was almost never used off of the huge runs. Missed opportunity

I agree. A balanced approach and the Steelers win this one by double digits today. Either way, great to see Samuels step up and have a great game.

When is New England fooled with play action? Seldom.

I'm starting to think Samuels is a really good fit for the Steelers. One major reason why. Teams typically keep 1 safety back to double Brown, or Ju-ju, so we should not see many 8 man fronts. If they move their safety up, Ben will see it and take a shot deep. I double dare them!

Samuels is a shifty cut back runner, with enough speed to breeze by defensive ends, and beat most linebackers to the corner for extra yardage. We saw these counter and mis-direction plays. He's too strong for most corners, and like I said one safety is typically out of the action when the opposing defense is thinking pass. Run Samuels on counters or an occasionally draw.

It took Fitcher a game to figure out how to use Samuels, but I really liked what I saw yesterday and think we've something extra with him for defenses to worry about.

The running game is not the problem, not calling running plays is the problem.

I think JaySam can get to that corner compared to Conner. And he looks like he could have better hands. As far as holding onto the rock, wouldn't be surprising considering his diverse college background. I think Conner is obviously the better pass protection blocker.

As well as the more powerful inside runner.

Now if you can figure a good formula to use them, we could be looking like the Eagles of last year.

A big if perhaps, but the talent is there.

Spike, I don't know how many times it has to be pointed out. Conner is better in every statistical category in the game with the exception of blocking. And that, I don't know. He MAY be just as good a blocker as Bell was.

Spike is just throwing his usual troll. :emmersed:
