Steelers brought in ex Giants LB coach to work with the defense this week.

Bradley I'm unsure of; is it bad coaching or just bad and inexperienced play? He hasn't made a damn bit of difference, so I'm leaning towards bad players.

Like I said in another thread, we are experts at drafting offensive players but 30/70 to the bad when drafting D.

Why not just hire him and get rid of who we have. If not now, then clean house at the end of the season. It will be a long off season so they will have plenty of time to make adjustments.

I'm buying it. It's pathetic that with as much experience we have playing these guys that we still have to bring someone in. Would love to witness the interaction. Maybe Porter is sitting at his knee, hearing about all the wondrous things linebackers can do, gazing up at Herrmann saying. "Tell me again about the rabbits, Jim!".

This is alarming or embarrassing. Or both.

BOTH. And perhaps an instant upgrade as Jim Hermann likely knows not to use linebackers to cover receivers by design.

We acknowledge that the wheels have fallen off, obvious!y

More like we've got a fantastic engine, with square wheels and a dim witted mechanic.

Steelers dominate Brady and their O and we have our new DC= best case.

Brady torches Steeler D for 5 TDs= moving on, bring on Brees and Co.

I am buying it, anything at this point might help. Of course most teams would have fired Butler by now.

Buy or sell this will help the defense ?
Think I'll "Hold". At it's face, it seems like a no-lose proposition, bringing in a guy who's teams he coached have not only faced the Cheaters often, but had success against them. He also coached Bostic when they were both with the Colts, so who knows what that'll lead to, if anything.

I don't see how this doesn't undermine the coaches. How can the players have confidence that the coaches know what they are doing if they have to bring in outside help to get it done?

It smells of desperation and the confidence to beat NE is at an all-time low right now.

How long after watching them practice do you think it took that coach to start laughing?

Slow ILBers - ****** scheme, this cat has his hands full.

Don't worry, he'll fix it in a week.

fire Tomlin demote Butler and Hire Rex and tell him to tell Colbert the type of players he wants to buld a D around. this 2-4-5 crap must end once a team engages successfully in doubling Heyward and getting him a away on the inside run the LB's behind all get washed up and including Sean Davis coming down him to make a run stop that should be no gain or at most 3 yards that constantly turns into 6-9 yard gains.

****, this is like an old Star Trek episode where they introduce the new character (ensign botanist so and so) for the ground mission so there is someone to kill off of no consequence. Surely he will be fired, as the sole reason for the D getting gashed by 50 completions after this next ground mission. It was nice knowing ya coach so and so...you did a great job keeping Butler and Porter safe to star in future episodes.

"Hire Rex"

I was thinking that, too. If they were going to bring in a special D consultant, why not bring in Rex? He knows how to beat the Patriots.

I don't follow other teams but has this ever happened before? Have the Steelers ever done this before? It just seems odd to bring in outside help for this type of issue. I get bringing in a former kicker to help a kicker. Or a shrink to help someone that is having issues. But this just seems odd.
