Poland's 'Solidarity' union joins forces with US climate change skeptics

Poland’s Solidarity labor union has joined forces with climate skeptics from America to call for “a restoration of the Scientific Method and the dismissal of ideological dogma” in the study of climate change as part of a joint declaration the union has submitted to the United Nations in partnership with a U.S.-based free-market think tank.

Dominik Kolorz, president of Solidarity in Poland’s Silesian region; and James Taylor, a senior follow for environment and energy policy with the Heartland Institute — makes the point that “there is no scientific consensus on the main causes and consequences of climate change.”

They conclude that “[t]he global war on energy freedom, which commenced in earnest in the 1980s and reached a fever pitch in the second decade of the twenty-first century, was never founded on sound science or economics. The world’s policymakers ought to acknowledge this truth and end that war.”

Unlike its U.N. counterpart, the nongovernmental panel performs a cost-benefit analysis into the use of fossil fuels that highlights the benefits to humanity.

Trump Is Right — Subsidies For Electric Cars, Renewable Energy Must End

President Trump's economic adviser Larry Kudlow says subsidies for electric cars and other renewable energy programs might soon be eliminated. That would be a major victory on the road to energy freedom.

"As a matter of our policy, we want to end all of those subsidies," Kudlow said. "And by the way, other subsidies that were imposed during the Obama administration, we are ending, whether it's for renewables and so forth."

Moreover, the billions of dollars of subsidies and credits don't go to all Americans, but mainly to high-income ones, since electric cars are still highly expensive on average. As the Competitive Enterprise Institute explains, "79% of EV (electric vehicle) tax credits were claimed by households with an adjusted gross income of more than $100,000 a year."

So Americans are subsidizing toys for the rich that aren't necessarily either as economic or clean as advertised.

The same is true of other "alternative energy" subsidies, by the way. We should get rid of them all. They merely distort free energy markets, which will work just fine at delivering the best energy available at the lowest price.

Chevy Volt's Discontinuation And 'Gilets Jaunes' Riots In Paris Have Something In Common

What does the decision by General Motors Co. to discontinue production of the Chevrolet Volt have to do with popular unrest in France as evidenced by the violent protests of the “gilets jaunes” or yellow vests who oppose higher fuel taxes?

The answer: They both represent pushback against government-mandated strategies to reverse climate change. For GM, the automaker can no longer afford to manufacture a highly-efficient gas-electric hybrid that has struggled to find customers. In France, the government of Emmanuel Macron has thrown in the towel on higher diesel fuel taxes that have infuriated middle-income Frenchmen.

Maybe man made climate change is one of but many parts to the problem, but in reality cold weather nations like Canada, Russia, and Poland would not mind a 1-2 degree increase in temperature over the next ten years.

Why does this generation of humans on earth believe they are entitled to use as much of the fossil fuel resource as they can get out of the ground?
Future generations should be entitled to use this available fuel source. Even if you don't believe in climate change, you should believe in preserving
resources for the future and protecting the environment. Investing in renewables protects the environment and preserves resources. Seems like the right
thing to do. Not doing it seems rather selfish.

Selfish is calling some environmentally safe when it isn't. Look at the batteries used in electric cars. They are filled with dangerous chemical and mercury. But you're ok polluting landfills with poison just so you can say you're environmentally conscious. You also don't have a clue about renewables. Solar power is a joke and still needs batteries to store the power.

Also you need to use the free market. It will set the price and the demand for all this stuff instead of having the tax payer pay for companies like Solandra and many many more.

Educational video. Helps better understand the mindset around here, the likes of Confluence, Indy, Stewey and others. I guess I should feel a certain amount of empathy towards them, can't be easy being this far down the rabbit hole.

Why does this generation of humans on earth believe they are entitled to use as much of the bandwidth of the board as they can get out of the the internet without paying for it?
Future generations should be entitled to use this available communications source. Even if you don't believe in being a moocher, you should believe in contributing to the cost of hosting the site for the future and protecting the board. Investing in Steelernation.com protects the current state and preserves future resources. Seems like the right thing to do. Not doing it seems rather selfish.

President Trump rolls back wetlands protections. What it means for California farmers, developers

In a victory for farmers and land developers throughout the West, the Trump administration announced a broad rollback of rules designed to protect wetlands and other small bodies of water.

The decision means regulations put in place in 2015 by the Obama administration will fall by the wayside.

Andrew Wheeler, acting administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, said the new rules will give property owners greater flexibility to manage their lands without having to worry about federal intervention.

Pence Casts Tie-Breaking Vote After Outgoing Republican Tries to Block Trump Nominee

Vice President and former Senator Mike Pence cast a tie-breaking vote to confirm a federal judge after outgoing Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) broke rank and voted against the nominee.

The Republicans hold a slim majority in the Senate, 51-49, until the New Year. After that, the margin will widen to 53-47 as the GOP won several seats during the November midterms.

Flake’s vote made the total 50-50, forcing Pence to step in and cast the tie-breaking vote in his role as the ex officio President of the Senate to confirm the nomination of Harvard Law School graduate Jonathan Kobes, 44, to be a U.S. Circuit Judge for the Eighth Circuit.

I don't think he's human. He's a droid, a human form made of chicken wire wrapped in rubber skin with blinking eyes and a nodding head. Is he even alive? Has anybody seen or met Mike Pence in person? It's high tech robotics, I tell you. Can't be real.

With Flake gone, the last moving tentacles of John McCain will finally die.

I’ve met him. He’s a gtreat guy. He also had his own radio show on a local station here (WIBC) before he got into politics. His sister was married to a good friend of mine. They’re divorced now. Pence is one of the most decent people on the face of the earth. He’s leaps and bounds above you leftist scum.

Anyone who still watches The Young Turks after that embarrassing, election night meltdown does not deal with reality very well.
For example, the idiot psychology twit who says that Trump supporters react emotionally has been living under a rock for the past two years.

Mike Pence has a firmer grasp on reality then this member of the Democratic brass...................

I hate that Mike Pence got so much negative attention when it came to light that he won't do dinner with any woman (alone) other than his wife- even if it is a business dinner. He respects his wife so much that he doesn't want any kind of perceived impropriety. You would THINK that the enlightened feminists would respect that, especially in this #metoo era. NOPE. They think he is the second incarnation of Satan because he "won't dine alone with a woman."

Like anyone on the left is gonna believe him anyway.

It could have been broadcast for the world to see and afterwards, Pelosi would step to the microphone, say something completely different happened and CNN would report her words as fact.

Mexico Is Closing Their Border ... With Guatemala

Mexico’s top security official says the government will effectively close off illegal entry at its southern border with Guatemala.

Interior Secretary Olga Sanchez Cordero says Mexico will end the practice of undocumented or illegal crossings over the Suchiate River, which marks much of the border between the two countries.

Sanchez Cordero said Wednesday that “in the south there will be only one entry, on the bridge.”

She adds that “anyone who wants to enter illegally, we are going to say: ‘Get in line and you can enter our country.’”
